My favorite shows that I saw this year probably are Billy Elliot, Gypsy, In the Heights, [title of show], Farragut North, and Next to Normal. Billy Elliot will most definitely stand out as the best experience, followed by when I sat front row at Gypsy.
Liza's at the Palace...!

I have to say, it was one of my more active years as well but if I had to pick just one......
Definitely closing night of A Chorus Line.. 2nd row seats. I've never felt so much love or part of a community until I was in that theater on August 17th.
I'd go and see Fifty Words again in a heartbeat. Such powerful performances.
Also, my first time seeing In The Heights and Jersey Boys (hadn't seen it until '0 as well as certain Young Frankenstein performances.
I'm finally seeing South Pacific in February, so I hope to add that to my '09 list. :)

Hmmmm...
1. Speech and Debate
2. Spring Awakening on May 18
3. In the Heights
There's three I'd like to see again, and they were all on the same day, so that'd be totally do-able if backwards time travel were invented but we were only allowed a single day in the past. :3
Friday 23rd May. Henry IV part 1 at 10.30am, Henry IV part 2 at 3pm, Henry V at 7.30pm. Easily the best day of my life so far. And I know it'd live up to my repeat expectations, 'cos I'd already seen Henry V a few months before, and it was even better in May than it had been in October. And it was pretty frickin' awesome in October.

I only got to see it once and it made such an impression on me that I wanted to see it over and over, but the closing coincided with a family trip, so that killed that. Hoping it comes back in some way, shape or form so I can can love it all over again.
I would go back in time again to see "In the Heights" but I would swap tickets so that they would have to sit behind the 6'5" man instead of me.
I would go back and see Young Frankenstein on November 23rd (Chris Fitzgerald's last show) that was the best Young Frankenstein performance I've ever seen. Updated On: 12/23/08 at 03:59 PM
I was incredibly lucky this past year--I got to see Lupone's Gypsy, Sunday in the Park with George, Billy Elliot, Ivanov in London, and a part of me wishes I could go back and relive all of those. However, for me, of the shows I saw, I'd most want to go back to August: Osage County (original cast)--the show is just a shining example of the power of theatre or Spring Awakening on May 18 because it was exhilarating to be in a theatre with so many people who were passionate about the show.
Of the shows I didn't actually get to see, I wish I could go back and see Title of Show or South Pacific. I was overseas during the entirety of the TOS run and I hate that I couldn't come support the show before it closed.
My Favorite Feel-Good: Legally Blonde
My Favorite Theatre Piece: A Catered Affair
Mr Favorite Overall: Hairspray or Legally Blonde
The Shows I Saw in 2008:
*RENT (2x on tour)
*Phantom of the Opera
*A Catered Affair
*Hairspray
*Legally Blonde (on tour)
I might see WSS or Grey Gardens next week in DC, so that could change my answer.
Mine, in no particular order:
1.Xanadu-1st time I saw it.
2. In The Heights
3. Gypsy
4. Spamalot-1st time I saw it.
I also did enjoy seeing Chicago, Hairspray, and Forbidden Broadway, but the 4 on my list are my favorites.
Echoing some common votes:
-Patti LuPone in Gypsy (pretty sure I didn't breathe once during "Rose's Turn")
-In the Heights, seeing it without having the faintest idea what I was getting into other than that I'd heard good buzz about it. Phenomenal.
-August: Osage County - absolutely brilliant start to finish
Regrets:
-Missing Blackwatch.
-Missing Blasted, though I'm told it was hard to sit through.
-Missing [title of show]
Here's my list:
* Spamalot- with Stephen Collins and Drew Lachey
* Forbidden Broadway: SVU
* August: Osage County- seeing Amy Morton in action was incredible
* Gypsy- Patti, Laura, Boyd and Leigh Ann were just all incredible...Patti's "Rose's Turn," is a performance that will always stay with me.
* Xanadu- I was very fortunate enough to see Whoppi Goldberg in it, great laughs.
The Country Girl.

Billy Elliot.
Every time I've seen it I've been 'forced' to buy another ticket so I can see it again. I don't remember that ever happening with any other show before. In my opinion it's just perfect.

I'd say it's a tie between The Visit and Gypsy for me.
Sunday in the Park with George, all the way. Such a moving piece of theatre, and the best night of theatre I've had to date. But Gypsy comes in a close second. WHo can not love Laura, Boyd, and Patti, all in one show?

Second to last performance of Sunday in the Park with George - Oh god, again, breathtaking performances
August: Osage County - I saw the cast immediately after the Tonys and they were wonderful.
