I believe it is an open-run, but I have been wondering how long some of the stars will stay. I would obviously expect Cynthia to stay until at least Tony time (if it is still around then), but I would think Danielle needs to leave pretty early to shoot the next season of Orange Is The New Black. And anything greater than 6 months seems like a huge commitment for someone of J. Hud's caliber.
Danielle Brooks should actually be able to stay with the production for awhile. OITNB has already begun production on season 4 (or will begin very shortly). She has said that they are going to work around her show schedule to film.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
OITNB shoots in NYC/Astoria, Rockland County, so its not like she has to be on the West Coast. I am sure they are going to work with her schedule on this. I love the look for this marquee.
"I think lying to children is really important, it sets them off on the right track" -Sherie Rene Scott-
I'm pretry sure everyone will stay until the TONYS. Opening of the show and the TONYS aren't that far apart. 6 months isn't that long of a time. Danielle is already shooting season 4 now.
Holy crap, they start shooting OITNB in the summer and we still have to wait a full year for the new episodes???
In any case, I am glad this is being revived. I have been wanting to hear the score out loud again. I went to see the tour with Jennifer Holliday earlier this year, and that was not a good experience.
Oprah is still a producer. But they are actually treating this a new production although it's a revival. So I understand why it doesn't say "Oprah Presents".
Danielle Brooks will be wrapped on the new season of ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK before THE COLOR PURPLE even starts previews. She only has to do double duty during rehearsals.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
At first glance, I thought the words "the musical" were an exclamation point and got really unnerved for a sec.
Anyway, I didn't know John Doyle was directing this. He's a very hot-and-cold kind of guy when it comes to public opinion, isn't he? Especially for his Sondheim revivals and The Visit, I think.
I walked by this afternoon and it looks gorgeous in person. Can't wait to see what they do with the marquee space/wall space on the walls of the theatre!
This really was a stunning production, bare stage, some chairs and not much else.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.
