"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
How funny is it that the Cabaret performance is straight up at 9pm. So Alan Cumming is the Emcee instead of Eli Gold on The Good Wife. Hell of a difference between them haha
YAY for the best score!!! (I had no idea that was awarded during a commercial break. Seriously?!)
ps- so glad James Monroe Iglehart won... I loved his performance!! But honestly loved Danny Burnstein's too... and they are so different... I would have been happy with either!

I love the way they're staging the musical numbers. All of them. And I loved the opening number. Not easy to do nothing but hopping for that long. Wow!
@ Jane2- i Can say whatever i want- just like you can- get over yourself. - I have nothing against age, but being that awkward on stage is not cool at any age.
I think Iglehart was out of breath because he was very nervous and also because the Radio City stage is extremely wide so he had to do a lot of running. Although I'm not his biggest fan, the number is much better in the show.
I guess Roundabout wanted to prove that the nominators made the right decision in feeling that Cabaret was just a recycling and left it out of Best Revival. They even recycled their Tony number.
"What was the name of that cheese that I like?"
"you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start"
"well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"
