“Only $165” has to be the saddest thing I have read on here in a while. Well, I guess that’s how things are going. Every queen in town is willing to pay $250 to see Jinx Monsoon off Broadway in Little Shop and they propelled Oh, Mary to Broadway by paying $190 for top price tickets at the Lortel,a theatre with sight lines and a rake so bad, one is barely able to see anything from any seat.
So here we are. $165 per ticket is considered a reasonable price for a mezzanine seat on Broadway in 2024.
Lovely."
The saddest thing I have read on here in a while. LOLOLO, saddest???
We're no longer students and not in our 20's (mid-late 40's) and both have great jobs so we can afford going to the theatre, concerts, dinners, vacations etc. and yes $165 in the front mezzanine to see Mia & Patti is reasonable to us.I would not spend $318 to sit in the center orchestra or $215 for front row mezzanine as many will have no problem paying. We don't see shows 2,3 4 times like so many on this board. Once is enough and special for us seeing most shows yearly on Broadway. I would not pay $250 to see the overrated Jinx and we do plan on seeing Oh, Mary on Broadway so be it and maybe with a discounted code would be even better!
Maybe get a job a good job Matt so you can afford nice things in life and not be so miserable when others can afford to pay certain prices for tickets."
Your privilege is showing. In a time when so many people are barely able to afford groceries along with the many rising costs of everything, while seeing a Broadway show is a luxury, it also shouldn't break the bank for people. This isn't a new conversation and if the trend continues, I'd love to hear your thoughts when you too are unable to afford seeing the shows you want to see in a decent seat."
I'm unable to travel to places I want to go to. Travel is a luxury, and I understand that. So I'm not whining about how badly I want to travel. I'm accepting that sometimes, we don't get to do things we want. I wish others understood that. Your entitlement is showing."
Sure, Jan.
