If you don’t want to go then don’t go. My goodness.
In recent years, the humidity has been worse and more oppressive than any audience at the Delacorte.
At the bottom of yesterday's announcement (or at least in the email in my inbox), it states that if you join as a Supporter Plus member for $300 you'll receive a reserved seat for Shakes in the Park. Might be worth looking into if seeing this production is a priority and could potentially be cheaper than paying someone to camp out for tickets morning of next summer.

So what are we guessing the rush will be like for this, back to before the park opens?
I loved the shot of Romeo and Juliet (two coyotes living in Central Park) taken at the Delacorte.

If you want a decent seat get there 4-6 hours early. Otherwise you'll be sitting with the squirrels.
This is WONDERFUL.

Does getting there early actually affect where your seat location is? It always seemed random to me.
From their website:
"Seat locations are randomly distributed, not based on the position of a person in the line, and you and your group are not guaranteed to be seated together. "

But what if I want to sit with the coyotes?
I sat next to some very lovely raccoons when I saw Merry Wives.

Looks straight out of a National Geographic magazine. Beautiful.
Yessssssssssss.
But, the new seats look as uncomfortable as the old ones for real.
I think there’s only so much that can be done in terms of comfort for seats that will be exposed to the elements all year round.
For those who can’t make it, this TWELFTH NIGHT will be recorded for a proshot, set to premiere November 14 on PBS as part of “Great Performances.”

PBS has really been knocking it out of the park with their Great Performances selections lately.

It's been trimmed to 90 minutes? Why? I always thought Twelfth Night was one of the more fleet-footed of Shakespeare's plays.

How early do people line up for this usually? I wish they distributed tickets in midtown Manhattan, they do it mostly in the outer boroughs
They mostly distribute tickets directly at the Delacorte which is in Central Park between the Met and the Natural History Museum. Really not far from midtown at all.
And as far as how early people line up, it’s hard to know since it hasn’t started yet. This cast is pretty starry so I’d imagine early. The first week people are still learning it’s happening so by week 2 the line tends to get a lot bigger. The past few years without star studded casts you could get there at 8a - 10a and be totally fine. With Nyong’o, Dinklage, Ferguson, and Oh all in it? I mean. 5a? 6a? I feel like we haven’t had a cast this big in years. I remember getting there as the sun was rising when Anne Hathaway was in it (2009?) and being so far back in the line I was worried I wouldn’t get a seat. Weekday/weekend makes a difference too.

Today’s the day! Are people lined up?

If you're close to it, they have the in-person lottery at The Public everyday. I feel like that's the option most people don't know about/try.
The wait is over! Free Shakespeare in the Park returns today, anyone here going? Should be a beautiful night weather-wise.
The Public Theater lists the running time for this TWELFTH NIGHT as 1:55, no intermission.
How was tonight?
I also see that Michael Thurber wrote some original music for this production. Big spring / summer for him with this, GODDESS at the Public, and JUST IN TIME for which he received various accolades for his orchestrations (with Andrew Resnick).
