Looking at availability for a few other performances around that same time, I do think it will be a special anniversary performance. 1/26 availability seems to be significantly more limited than the dates immediately before and after it, which suggests to me that they're holding onto seats for VIPs.
More than likely there will be no tickets for the final performance for the general public. This show has 35 years of cast and crew!!! However, a live paid live stream is a possibility
Weirdly I signed up to the pre-sale notifications and received nada. Fortunately a friend of mine did receive the notifications so we're going to attend the anniversary show (and I'm flying from London for it, as I've no desire to see the cutdown version that has taken up residence at Her Majesty's).
I do hope they will film one of the final performances for commercial release or livestream. It's Hal Prince's last Broadway show. It would be criminal (figuratively speaking) not to.
By now, I would think, if Phantom were truly closing (and not just closing for restaging), word would have leaked that (1) the theatre is going to be closed for refurbishing for some time or (2) what the next show would be.
Oh no! Have you been able to secure tickets to any of the released performances?"
I got tickets yesterday for January 26, but they're way up in the mezzanine (where I hate being for this show). I'd like an explanation as to why only some of the people who signed up for notifications actually received an email. If I'd known when they were going on sale, I would've been queued up 10 minutes ahead of time and clicking Refresh repeatedly, as I have for all of the past anniversary performances.

I can tell you that I signed up for both email and text notifications. I did not receive an email notification but did receive a text (actually two). Perhaps that was the difference for some folks.

Thanks, that's good to know - I just went back to the site and signed up for text messages as well!

Wow. Just got my tickets for the matinee and evening show for Saturday, Feb. 4. Quite pricey. That will be my 86th and 87th time seeing the show at the Majestic. I was hoping I could get to 90, but not without an extension, which is seemingly far from likely now.
"#PhantomBroadway has the absolute delight in welcoming three Raouls in the coming months! Don’t miss Jason Forbach from tonight - Dec 5, Paul Adam Schaefer from Dec 6 - Jan 1, and John Riddle returning to the Majestic on Jan 2."

I know how you feel! The other day I counted how many times I've seen Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic through the years and mine is 84! I hope you get to 90 but I'll most likely just get to 85 and am ok with that.

I'll have to count my tickets one of these days. It's a lot.

Does anyone think ALW's new partnership with Michael Harrison to (in part) "create new productions from Andrew Lloyd Webber's momentous musical catalogue" might result in him bringing Phantom back to Broadway instead of Cameron Mackintosh?

I'm sure ALW would like to but I thought I read somewhere that CM has some contractual arrangement that ties him to future POTO productions?

I sure hope not.

I wonder how much it would cost this new venture to buy CM out of his share of Phantom Broadway?
Would the tens of thousands of people who purchased insanely-priced Phantom tix because it is closing be upset if it ended up staying open or would they be thrilled?
