Yes, let’s pressure a theatre news website to have even less exposure. It’s the best thing for Broadway.

I'm sure BWW will do real numbers on Blue Sky and Mastodon...

Could you tell me exactly what the negative impact on Elon Musk would be if BWW were to cease posting on Twitter? I'll wait.

Whose needs are being met by BWW not being there? Yours? Like... bffr.

Obviously just one unpaid account will not do much harm, same way as one measly Trump vote would not do Kamala much harm. Or one lousy shampoo bottle isn’t going to hurt the oceans much.

Cumulative effect? Ever hear of it?

Bond Villains shouldn’t be included in any business plans.

The cumulative impact is already happening. Twitter/X has lost nearly 1/5th of their daily users in the U.S. - Elon Musk's X is losing users in the U.S., UK, and EU. X's own data proves it.

From the BBC

“Meta is abandoning the use of independent fact checkers on Facebook and Instagram, replacing them with X-style "community notes" where commenting on the accuracy of posts is left to users.

In a video posted alongside a blog post by the company on Tuesday, chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said third-party moderators were "too politically biased" and it was "time to get back to our roots around free expression".

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Yep, it'shilarious, so pathetic and extremely predictable.

Maybe you should look at that particular poster's posting history before approvingly quoting them.

Will Playbill now also remove their instagram account with 1 million followers and Facebook with 500k followers given the recent news? I bet they won’t because they were being performative leaving Twitter/X and are not willing to put their money where their mouth is.

They were being performative when they did it on Twitter and it'd be performative if they did it on Instagram and Facebook. What exactly does their content have to do with misinformation or disinformation? They're a theatre news source. They walked away from Twitter because their engagement wasn't high on it and in the moment they were in the "moral right" to walk away and one less platform for their social media team to manage, so they could downsize. They're not a "person" it's a faceless marketing branch.

Did Playbill leave Twitter over lack of content moderation/fact checkers? If not then this seems like two different situations.

My understanding is that yes playbill left twitter after Elon musk purchased it and changed the content moderation processes. Now meta has followed suit hence interested to see their response.

As soon as I learned Musk let Alex Jones back on Twitter I couldn't get off it fast enough. I honestly don't know anyone would want to share that platform with that thing.

I just read Meta will now allow users to refer to trans people as "mentally ill" without any moderation. So yes, it will be interesting to see their response. What a messed up world.

Holy SH*T Kad, thank you. I was so sick yesterday and I thought between swigs of Dayquil and Nyquil, possibly combining them at one point (??) that I was well enough to comprehend things. How unbelievably embarrassing. That dude insulted Patti Lupone, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Joey Robinette? Three of my favorite humans alive today. Jesus Christ. And they wrote both these things:

Hopefully, Broadway will be held accountable for spreading hate, misinformation and division.  America voted that it will no longer be tolerated.  Karma anyone?

Of course people on here will be concerned, throw books away, hate her for her opposing views and disavow their love for Harry Potter. How pathetic can you be when you completely erase a person because their opinion differs from yours.

Playbill leaves Twitter

Thanks again, Kad ❤️
