This is an, uh, interesting concept for a musical.

Bummers.
When I saw the headline only saying DIANA, I expected it to be about Diana Ross.
Oh, well.
Polarizing political female, hated by some, loved by millions, spends lots of money on jewelry and clothes and dies young. Where have I seen this musical before?

The show could actually be successful if they follow the EVITA episodic structure.

Instead of Che, would the narrator be Johnny Rotten? Boris Johnson could be a fun narrator. But it probaby be someone like Kitty Kelly.
Harvey Fierstein for Camilla!
I actually heard that the reading was sensational, but I'm still pretty skeptical. It all kind of depends on who will play Diana.
I'm a season subscriber, and I got to say that I'm not looking forward to it. My stomach did a flip-flop when I read it. Good team, though, so maybe it will be okay? Weirder shows have succeeded, so I hope they have a good way into "the story". Guess we will see next year.
It's not the first Princess Diana musical but I think it is the first to get this kind of treatment? With obvious Broadway ambitions given the director and creative team involved.

I heard Kristin Chenoweth is attached to play Diana, Princess of Wales.

Um...methinks not. Kristin's hitting 15+ years older than the age Diana was when she passed.
Yikes. Love Kristen, but she's far too old and doesn't really look like her at all. Laura Benanti or Laura Michelle Kelly could kind of look like her with blonde hair and they would be much closer in age. Did anyone here see the workshop? I'd like to know what kind of score it is.

well, I got the joke and I think you were funny BrodyFosse!
^the article said it's 1980s inspired rock and roll musical.
How about Jennifer Damiano? She can somewhat look like her, is the right age, and has the appropriate experience - feels like it could be her big break since she didn't really pick up steam after N2N. Benanti has a similar face structure so that's a possibility but I'd like it to go a lesser known performer (not that I wouldn't be *thrilled* if Benanti played it). Chenoweth's definitely all sorts of wrong.
Lol. I just got the Chenoweth joke. Good one, Brody.
GeorgeandDot, since you heard the reading was good, did you hear any casting from it?
Also, I'm team newcomer for the role of Diana. It says in the bio for the musical that she's 20 for at least a good part of it.
This Chenoweth joke be going over my head like
I didn't hear anything about casting. I only heard it was surprisingly great from a friend from heard it from a friend. We didn't discuss it much other than that.
Chenoweth, Princess of Wails, if that helps, Concierge.
Laura Dreyfuss wouldn’t be bad
Katie Rose Clark or Jenn Gambatese.
Also want to add Kate Baldwin's name because of the look - she's the sweetest thing who deserves so much more love from the audience. I guess the type of music is really important before any other dream-casting
Based on the set, it looks like they're including the car crash?!

Jeanna de Waal played Diana in a recent reading of the show, directed by Christopher Ashley and I would love to see her continue with this project.
