WHY? For some stupid retail space! Hope they don't drop or crack it.... ugh.. Leave these landmarks alone!!!!

It would result in an renovation of the interior, exterior, with a 75' marquee, technical improvements. The works! It would be fantastic
The additonal lobby space would definitely be nice. And the new restrooms are huge! If this doesn't happen, the Palace could still definitely use a renovation ASAP. It's been looking pretty sad in there for years now.

I did read it,Tobias... I am just sad that Times Square has changed SO much.
I'm curious to know how they raise a building without destroying it. I didn't know that could be done.

Times Square is Disneyland East
Once all the palaces came down, the space was headed for this gentrification .

The same way they can lift entire mansions and move them to new locations.

Take a look at the proposal in the original link... It shows you. Similar to how they moved the Empire theatre on 42nd Street!
an American in Paris is still playing and what looks to be for a while. How are they going to do this? Will they have to move AAIP at some point?
The plan is quite fascinating, everyone should read it. It includes awesome diagrams and photos of the Palace before and after renovation. The Palace is one of my least favorite theaters, so I'm glad this is potentially happening.
The thought of that balcony being another 29 feet in the air is quite frightening though!
They should do it after AAIP
I doubt it will play beyond this time next year. Who knows.

The plan has just been confirmed. It says the work should be done by the end of 2019
Did it say when they will begin? I'm extremely curious what will happen to AAIP. And to the poster who thinks it will be closed by next year I have to ask why? It's had million dollar weeks ever since it opened and it doesn't seem like it's going to change.

If they really want to hold on to AAIP, I think they will wait a while to start the construction, and then move the show to another theatre. I think the Lunt-Fontane or Marquis would suffice
Really interesting. I'll also be happy to see the entrance moved around the corner. That block of 7th is such a sh!tshow. Love the expanded facilities.
While I am not totally against this, I did chuckle at the quote about the lucky people getting a Red Lobster or something there now...
Sounds kind of awesome! I have to ask, if you look at the space above the Palace, it looks like some sort of makeshift room was built? Like with aluminum walls. Is that for the theater?
Max Von Essen tweeted: " I hope they wait till my contract is done."
Is there a larger version of the diagram available?

There is a aprox. 48 page report online with many detailed interior and exterior diagrams. I think BroadwayWorld posted it.

I didn't either, but I just spent the last hour looking at the detailed proposal and it actually seems like it'll be a lot easier than you would think. It's pretty incredible how simple it is, honestly.

Pretty sure Disney World is Disneyland East.

Yeah, it was so charming before, with all the hookers and homeless and strip clubs.
