Respected singers whose voices grate your nerves#0
Posted: 8/24/06 at 3:32pmFor me, it's Meredith Braun. I understand she has a good voice, and she must be doing something right to get cast in show after show in London. Yet, I still can't stand listening to her voice. For whatever reason, it grates on my nerves, and I want to scratch my eyes out when I hear it. Do you feel that way about any ***respectable*** musical theater performer?

I could name many others, but I wouldn't consider them to be respected singers.

Posted: 8/24/06 at 4:01pmDon't get me wrong GC, I really do think she's an amazing singer but it hurts MY ears to listen to. Does that make sense? I just can't stand her vibratto, in all honesty.

Keaton says:
"Sherie Scott has never sounded as good on cast recordings as she has in the theatre.
Really? I've always felt the opposite. It seems to me that her voice has always seemed incredibly thin on recordings, but much fuller when you hear her live"
I think you both are stating the same, yet you said you feel the opposite way?

Pff. I must've read MB's message three times to make sure I had it right, and I still managed to misread it. Good catch.

Do Rosie ODonnell and Harvey Fierstein count?
I think referring to them as "respected singers" in the first place might be controversial. :) I suppose an argument could be made for Fierstein, but certainly not Rosie O'Donnell.
