Gallagher misses a good 75% of Act Two.

I'm pretty sure they'll push him for featured. Because no one's winning over Raul and producers know that.

Hm, that's true. Has anybody ever heard/seen his band perform? They're supposed to be really good.

I think Raul does have competition (unfortunately), but not exactly from a bunch of teenagers/20somethings.

haha I'll try...I'd do it for Company too though no worries!

as for Tonys I'm biased because I'm a die hard fan of the show but I think both Jonathan and Lea give Tony worthy performances. Doesn't mean that I think that I think they should win THIS year (I think we all can agree that that Tony is Raul's...he deserves it the most) but I think there performances are Award WORTHY even if they don't win. Groff gives an exceptional performance and I walked in not at all thinking I'd be impressed with him but man I think that his performance was very strong and moving and just keeps getting better. I think another year he might have had a decent shot at a win and he best be getting a nomination. That being said I can't wait to see Raul take the prize.

As for Lea, I know that she isn't everyone on here's cup of tea but I found her extremely heartbreaking as Wendla and had no issues at all with her acting or vocal inflections or voice (singing or speaking). I just found her captivating to watch and loved her in the second act. I would love to see them put her into featured (I don't really think the character is a leading role just because it's the biggest female character) and get a nomination or even a win! We all know as far as leading goes that it's Ebersole Ebersole and more Ebersole (and with VERY good reason) but I would love Lea to get some recognition because I thought she was stunning. I could go on but I'm a biased fan and lord knows we don't need another SA fan gushing like a little twelve year old. But am very glad Rosie was just as moved as I was by this beautiful show

ETA: oh and as far as Gallagher is concerned I think he is a lock for a nom. if not a win. I know the season isn't nearly over but I really think he has a great shot at winning which is wonderful because he's incredible as Moritz. Would love to see him take it

I'm glad she liked it, but I'm upset that she implied it wasn't appropriate for teenagers.

She said it's not a show for kids, I don't think necessarily implied that it's not appropriate for teenages. I took that to mean that it's not a show only for teenagers just because it's about them, and that she feels it's more geared toward people who are past that point in their lives in terms of appreciation for the piece.

I really think that nominations for the leads are out of the question I mean esp. when you look at lead female we have Audra McDonald, Charoltte d'Amboise, Karen Ziemba, Christine Ebersole, Laura Bell Bundy, Donna Murphy, Ashley Brown, Kristin Cehnoweth, and Stephanie J. Block all going for the top prize. And before you jump down my throat for not liking the show, I invite you to think about what the Tony awards really are really hard, and then you can yell at me.

I think Karen Ziemba would be considered featured actress in a musical...not leading.

She talked about it, and Jonathan and Lea were in the audience. I think she said the cast will be on to perform soon.

I LOVE that Jon and Lea were in the audience re: Rosie O'Donnell seeing Spring Awakening and I cannot WAIT for them to perform!!

about the Tonys, I agree I think its not really probable at all that Jon or Lea would win, but I DO think they both deserve to be nominated. The lead actress catagory is reeeally tough this year, so I'd understand if Lea maybe wasn't nominated, but Jon definitely, definitely deserves it. Again, there's like a very teensy tiny chance that he'd win over Raul (nor SHOULD he- raul deserves it, and he has pleeenty of time in his career to actually WIN a tony :P), but he deserves the recognition. John Gallagher, on the other hand, actually has a good chance at WINNING that baby for best supporting I think re: Rosie O'Donnell seeing Spring Awakening

Any chance Stephen Spinella or Christine Estabrook get supporting actor/actress noms? If so, does anyone think it's weird it will be in the musical category when they don't sing?

Yes, thank you for the link! Yayyyyy this makes me so happy. I don't care if Rosie gushes over everything, the fact that she loved it enough to get a performance booked on The View is good enough for me.
