Mattie.. I feel like a proud parent. I hope they keep their prices down. I am going to be so broke.
Me too! But forget about the prices. They already went up for the next three cities. Tickets for the St. Paul run are approximately double the price of the Chicago run. Producers are definitely taking advantage of the buzz. Hope it doesn't backfire on them. I do plan to see it on Broadway (probably in late Feb/early Mar) and I'll be in London next year, so if it's still running, I'll catch it there as well.
I have seen a few clips of the Chicago cast and agree vocally they are much better and have amazing voices, but the fact they don't even attempt an English accent and don't look as good at their characterisations would disappoint me more than a few bing notes.
I don't know what clips you've seen, but the characterizations of the original Chicago cast were FLAWLESS. When I saw performances of the UK cast doing Don't Lose Ur Head, it was like night and day. The Chicago Anne Boleyn was not only vocally superior, but so much funnier. What led you to believe the Chicago cast had inferior characterizations? Perhaps you might miss the English accents, but given the conceit of the show, they hardly seem necessary.

That makes sense for this kind of show. I think Hedwig had a similar schedule? This show wouldn't play well with the Wednesday afternoon crowd.

I agree with you on everything. The Chicago cast was far superior. Kind of bummed they are raising prices. I think it is a mistake in nurturing this show. Greed always gets in the way.

Per different instagram stories.. it looks like Broadway will get the Chicago cast. This is GREAT!

I will admit I probably shouldn't have said that as thinking back I watched very early Megasix's from Chicago and I'm sure they've grown into their characters a lot more. If people who have seen the whole thing are pleased with them I'm sure they're great.
I do however think they should have English accents, but that is just a personal opinion as one of the things I loved the most about it is that it was so typically 'English' and I am not even British. They are playing Henry the 8th's wives after all and he is probably the most popular 'character' in British history and it does take away from the Britishness of the show. It's not a deal breaker by any means and I'd rather them not do it if they can't pull it off, but I'd rather they did have the accents. I would've thought a lot of older people who go to the show would expect them too as well.
Surely you would find it odd to watch Hamilton with all British accents when it so essentially American?
I thought that I would miss the English accents, too, but I didn't when I saw the Chicago production. It helped that they took out really specific British lingo (like "mates"
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!
As far as costs go, im sure that has to do with costs as well as demand. Maybe not as much about greed. Im a season subscriber at the ART, so it only cost me about $35 bucks....and they offer atudent tix for only 5 which includes the attending adults...so thats my second Boston viewing.
As to the casting...isnt that what most of us expected?
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Maybe it's for the best, I'm sure a lot of Americans would struggle with it especially tourists in NY.
I'm Australian and every time I am in NYC everyone thinks I'm British and my other half is American and everyone thinks he's British and yet he sounds totally American to me.

I wouldn't think they'd be able to charge more than $75-$100 on Broadway with Premiums at $150.
They'd be pushing their luck to sell a 75 minute show for anything more than that surely.
Unless they going all out on production and introducing screens etc

The administrator of the official SIX Facebook page noted that casting has not yet been confirmed. I'd imagine it will at least be most of the North American cast, if not all. I could also see one or two roles recast if they'd like to have some more recognizable names (though the current cast is phenomenal and I'd be thrilled to see each of them open the show for the Broadway run).
Here're my (very blunt) thoughts on casting based off of the Chicago company.
I don't like Abby Mueller as Seymour. She's too quiet, and thus her voice doesn't sit right with the others—especially during Megasix. I think the Seymour/Boleyn crossover was changed because she simply couldn't be heard distinctly. Mallory Maedke would do well in her place—nice, strong, powerful voice.
I've fallen in love with Alexia McIntosh's deep, resounding voice. This is what Cleaves is to me. Brittney Mack is obviously lacking in this regard. Seek replacement.
Andrea Macasaet (Boleyn) and Anna Uzele (Parr) are stand-outs. They should be carried over to Broadway.
Also, let's please attempt the English (and German) accents for the forthcoming engagements in Boston, Edmonton, and St. Paul. The show isn't the same without it. Matilda kids did it—so can they.

Alexia IS Anna of Cleves, I'd love to see her have a run on Broadway, she deserves it.

The Seymour/Boleyn crossover is changed in London too so I don't think it was based on Mueller.
The Matilda kids on the US tour did not do the accent. I, for one, think accents are superfluous and unnecessary. Plus, Aragon was Spanish, Boleyn was French and Cleeves was German, so they probably didn't speak with any English accent that we would recognize today as an English accent. (Genevieve Bujold played Boleyn in Anne of a 1000 Days with no English accent).

Freestyle Love Supreme is 80 minutes long, and the standard prices are in line with any other show, with premiums at $299, $349 during the holidays. I'm sure there will be some reasonably-priced seats for Six in the rear of the mezzanine, but there's no way it will have "budget" pricing because of its length.

All of this is true, but the English accents do add a certain air of 'Spice Girls' to the proceedings and makes the show more quintessentially British x

It wasn't changed in London until recently. Within the last few weeks, specifically. It most certainly was based on Mueller. It sounds 100% better in London as they had it. Natalie Paris has the capability to sing over the Boleyn part and still be heard, Mueller does not.

Yes but that is very unique experience starring a major star.
This is a totally new production that most people won't have even heard of outside of people 'in the know'.

Lin-Manuel Miranda isn't starring in FSL. He and others will be making random unannounced guest appearances, but the core group is comprised of what I would call "unknowns."

I'm having a hard time getting excited about this. It's not all that dissimilar from the Joe Masteroff/Edward Thomas musical "Six Wives" which finally got a cast album in 2017.
I'm so excited about this. Having met the Queens at the stage door in Chicago last week, I think all of them will transfer at least initially. My guess is the casting announcement is more for understudies and the Ladies In Waiting band.
I agree about listening to the cast recording. I went in blind having not listened to it and I'm still humming the tunes in my head over a week later. I bought the digital album the same night as well as the show as well.
Since this has an existing fanbase, I expect to see Beetlejuice/Frozen levels of cosplay from the audience. I saw quite a bit of it in Chicago. I think it's a bit more fun in this case as costumes from that time period aren't as easy to come by. Other than that, I did like the show merch and hope that Broadway has more than one merch stand available. Probably some fun drinks too.
