Brad Pitt with Leonardo DiCaprio
Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore
Ben Stiller & Robert DeNiro
Jim Carey & Jeff Daniels
Owen & Luke Wilson
Steve Martin & Martin Short"
I said what I said. Nick Kroll and John Mulaney. Thanks!

I guess it's a generational thing. I ran my list past my 25 year old co-worker and he said "I don't know who those people are."
The logical star would be Hannah Waddingham.
But yes people, lower your expectations.

Can we have her, plus Jason Sudeikis as Arthur?

This is exciting.
It seems this new season is all about rivals - where are the original musicals?
If the show has a lowered-expectations cast, will it be financially viable? The property starts out with a lot of problems finding an audience: many see it as being in their rear-view mirror, many have currency problems with the material (for multiple reasons), and for still others it simply doesn't register (again for multiple reasons).

boomers love to brag that they have no idea who any modern day celebrity is.
And now the sweaty oracle is taking this as his own insider info .......
@Kimbo re my #3 I don't think we are disagreeing much if at all. My main point is that these contracts are very likely to have outs which makes them dubious undertakings. I certainly did not mean to suggest that everything will be running at full speed with the snap of a finger (although I do think that studios, networks, etc. are going to push for acceleration, and I do think there will be some projects that want some actors sooner rather than later, depending on what the remaining work looks like).
Regarding what you said about Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, first I'd note it is off-B so lots of things are different in the analysis. I also think it fits with what I said about producers who think this is a good idea. The show features, it can be noted, a 1st time lead producer (as well as a first time director and one first-time-on-stage star). I wish them luck; I like the play.

Well, four original shows are already running or announced, Back To the Future, and the three "H" shows--Here Lies Love, Harmony, and How to Dance in Ohio. Also we have repeated rumors about Days of Wine and Roses, and The Notebook both having commitments for theatres. Then there's another "H" show, Here We Are, waiting in the wings as well as two Gatsbys. All that said, you're right. the season so far is weighted toward revivals.

Aaron Sorkin could bring some of those comedy chops to it like he did to the comedy show parts of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Just genius!

Ok, well....I'm sorry for this, but:
Lady of the Lake - Hannah Waddingham
Arthur - Jason Sudeikis
Patsy - Brendan Hunt
Lancelot - Phil Dunster
Robin - Jeremy Swift
Galahad/Herbert's Father - Brett Goldstein
Herbert - Nick Mohammed
The Witch (add that scene back), Laker Girl, Narrator, Tim the Enchanter, and a bunch of other parts - Juno Temple
I would die to see that

Also something Gen Xers do
Also I had to Google Rentaholic2's list to see if they were real people.
My list was a joke based upon the comment about it being "star casting." I have less insider info than the Sweaty Oracle.
I imagine someone like Steve Martin would prefer to do his own material if he were to do a show.
Looking at the original cast, we had one all time legend in Tim Curry, one truly well-known television star just past his peak in David Hyde Pierce, one C-list celebrity but cult figure among comedy nerds in Hank Azaria, and one rising star in Sara Ramirez. The rest of the cast were reputable Broadway names but not “famous.”
Of note, the male “star” tracks require you to be funny, but don’t have any heavy lifting in terms of singing or dancing. King Arthur in particular is a very easy sing other than the Louis Prima impersonation during “Knights of the Round Table.”

I've also heard rumblings of Steve Martin as King Arthur

No reason you'd know them unless you're a Ted Lasso fan

Given how the character in the artwork is illustrated, I think it's safe to say that Steve Martin is not King Arthur...

Well he was born a small Black child in THE JERK, so…..
{I agree with you}
Lenny Henry would mean nothing at the b.o. but could be a great Arthur.

I suppose it's safe to anticipate a casting announcement prior to the Aug 9th presale?
