Daldry might not be Marianne Elliott or John Tiffany, but like many British directors, he can be very staging-oriented. Even just right now, we have The Jungle playing at St. Ann’s, co-directed by Daldry, and that’s definitely a spectacle in its own way. His famous production of An Inspector Calls also included some striking use of scenic elements. You could even throw Billy Elliott in there too, which had elements of spectacle, or rather, a general kind of grandeur to its staging.
