Wow, I was really excited by this until I read Jack Thorne’s name.
I’m not surprised - this sort of project is precisely his niche in the industry. It’s just a shame that he’s bad at his niche.

Some of the creative choices are… odd. Not a fan of Jack Throne’s work on Cursed Child, so disappointed they went with him (although clearly they are trying to replicate Cursed Child’s success). And Daldry seems like a strange choice for director given he is not exactly known for his spectacle. But keeping an open mind!

Daldry might not be Marianne Elliott or John Tiffany, but like many British directors, he can be very staging-oriented. Even just right now, we have The Jungle playing at St. Ann’s, co-directed by Daldry, and that’s definitely a spectacle in its own way. His famous production of An Inspector Calls also included some striking use of scenic elements. You could even throw Billy Elliott in there too, which had elements of spectacle, or rather, a general kind of grandeur to its staging.

Agreed about Daldry doing visual/aural spectacle; the Inspector house “opening” with china breaking all over the stage and the Billy E. miners lowering into the ground to the sound of loud clanging machines both stuck with me years later.

Yeah, I think Daldry is a great director. Honestly, I tend to love West End directors over US, they tend to give us spectacle with substance.
Wish they'd bring back Inspector Calls. Sounds so cool.
I think this sounds exciting and interesting.

The new trailer dropped today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHAxPEKar74
"might hold the key to what comes next.” sticks out to me. I am wondering truly how important this play may be to the cannon of the show. DO you think its possible this could transfer to NY sooner rather than later?

Well, we know Netflix is going to keep squeezing that cash cow until it becomes as dry as Milky White, but I imagine they're waiting to see how it's received in London. But if the reviews are even moderately good and tickets sell well I bet they're going to move heaven and earth to get it to New York as soon as feasibly possible.

As a fan of Stranger Things, I’m interested in this show but I’m sad it won’t be running till later this year! Just keeping my fingers crossed it comes to New York fast because they said this will makes us have an understanding of what the final season will have in store.

As we are just over two months away from performances beginning, do we have any idea of who could be in the cast for this show?

Intrigued what other theatrical ventures Netflix will produce if this proves to be a success.

Looks like a casting announcement is imminent, according to their Instagram. I swear, if Jamie Campbell Bower is in this, I'm gonna freaking scream!

This is no doubt coming to Broadway next season, with the forthcoming Hunger Games play adaptation not far behind.

I would say what house this is rumored to go in 24/25 but I don't want the Sweaty Oracle taking credit for my hard earned street intel... tbh

I am "guessing" Lyric Theater. Cursed Child would have to close first. Sales for that look dismal lately so it's a possibility.

Stranger Things replacing Harry Potter would feel...appropriate. And it might take the edge off some of the fearmongering about overcommercialization on Broadway.

$1.2M last week is dismal? Dang, inflation really hitting, huh? Cursed Child isn't going anywhere any time soon.
