So, initial impression: Rockwell and Fishburne should be switched with Fishburne as Teach and Rockwell as Donny.
Also, is this going to be a planned limited run? Or just a de facto limited run. The original Duvall/McMillan/Savage production ran 122 performances (after 13 previews), the Pacino revival ran 93 (after 7 previews), and the 2008 revival had 8 performances (after 20 previews) (all numbers from IDBD).

I don't have any great love for this play, or Mamet in general. But I look forward to seeing these two onstage together. In particularly, I'm glad to have a chance to see Fishburne onstage. Never seen him live before.

After seeing 3 billboards I will see Sam Rockwell do anything. I feel like the two of them together is really cool. Can't wait ...anyone know when tickets go on sale? I didn't see it.

I saw the original production and disliked it; I saw the first revival and disliked it even more; I saw the movie and hated it; I will definitely skip this.
There are two highly acclaimed authors who have never appealed to me and I suspect never will. One is Pinter (I once walked out of the opening night performance of No Man's Land with Gielgud and Richardson, because I was bored out of my mind...cheap seat...didn't distract anyone). The other one was Mamet...I guess I just don't get his 'genius'. The only thing I have ever liked from him was Speed The Plow, and I considered that a mildly entertaining piece of trivia. I have enjoyed several of the movies he wrote, e.g., The Verdict, Wag The Dog, but they seemed more 'substantial' and not so dreary, which is the word that best describes watching a Mamet play. The word that comes to mind with Pinter is 'stultifying'.

I couldn't stand Rockwell in A Behanding in Spokane, just loud and overacting to the nth degree. He's had time to mature and hone his craft and probably will be better in this. Still, I've seen this play once and it was tough to watch. Tugged at my heart. Don't know I can take it right now.

Came here to say this. I'd rather see celebrities using their power to develop a play by a new playwright. This seems like a tired production.

Same. American Buffalo is one of my favorite plays, but if it's gonna come back to Broadway, I want to the see the best possible actors in it, not just whoever will get butts in seats.

Anyone who is insulting Sam Rockwell's acting has clearly never seen Moon, The Way Way Back, or Three Billboards. Whatever. Yes, it depends on how good the actors are. I would say Laurence and Sam are worlds better than....Cedric the Entertainer and the child from the Sixth Sense.
Looking forward to this, this will be very popular.

Rockwell is a great film actor who was solid in Fool for Love, and Fishburne is a tremendous talent, but...this play? By this writer? Again? It and Glengarry are probably his best two, but even still...

Stating the obvious - film acting is different than stage acting. Whether Rockwell is good on film is just not relevant to how he will be live on stage....

When I saw the original production at one point early on McMillan went up and then started laughing and could not stop, Duvall tried his best to get things back on track but the Play was totally lost by then, Savage stood by as long as he could but Duvall finally stopped the show and told the audience to go home. I was so pissed, I did not ask for my money back or another ticket and have never seen another Mamet offering.
