A lot of these are amazing. Particularly the last one.

What? This is disgusting. Should those people not have been excited? I saw those tweets and was happy at the exciting response they all had at their shows.
No, this is called Sh*t Uptight Theatre A**holes Whine About.
That is just mean.
Exactly, Legally. this is another one of those "I think I'm sophisticated" threads.

Nothing wrong with poking a little fun once in a while :)
I loved some of these shows too, but this still made me giggle
I don't get why these are supposed to be funny. Is it really surprising/hilarious that some people like Spiderman and Phantom of the Opera? A lot of people think The Hunger Games is great literature, too, to which I say, hey, at least they're reading something.
I guess I should probably clarify that I only laughed audibly at the last one.
They aren't funny at all.I think it is GREAT people are thrilled to be seeing shows on Broadway. I know a lot of people who think WICKED or Mama Mia is the best thing they ever saw. So what? Good for them for liking a show!
Should be titled "Stupid Sh*T Self important Threatre Snobs find funny"
Also, a lot of these appear to be pre-teen or young teen girls. You know what I liked when I was their age? Phantom of the Opera. Les Miserables. And MC Hammer. So I'd be the last one to judge.
I agree with everyone who thinks this is stupid.
How is this funny? I enjoyed Spider-Man and Phantom. So what I'd tourists are excited about seeing these big shows.
I don't understand how this is funny.
These are random theatre posts, at best. They aren't even well written.

So what's wrong with Wicked and Mamma Mia??? Or Phantom for that matter?? What you theater geeks (wanna be elite) think the only good musicals are Sondheim shows or off beat shows. Please don't get me wrong I'm not dissing on Sondheim. I love his work and his shows are brilliant. He certainly is the Master. But tell me what's wrong with some of these other musicals?? Why do you snobs feel it's a sacrilege to dig shows that have universal appeal. In their own ways Wicked, Phantom, Mamma Mia, Priscilla, etc have as much worth as Sondheim's shows they only please and entertain in different ways. Calvin do not ever feel ashamed for liking Les Miz, it's truly a masterpiece in musical theater..

I haven't even watched it and I hate every second of it!

What haven't you watched Namo?? How can you hate something youv'e never watched?? Sounds pretty ignorant to me. Oh and by the way all those mega hit shows that were not supposed to like are all far superior to any of the new musicals I've seen this season so far.

I don't find this funny at all; I think it's sweet.
Although, the Glee one disgusted me.
If they weren't enthusiastic about the shows and the people in those shows, b'way would be a pretty barren place.
Some of those folks will become more sophisticated theater-goers -- and even if they don't, they are buying tickets and keeping the art form we all love alive.
I didn't think any of them were actually amusing.
The only part that made me laugh was the last tweet about the guys friend paying $600 for 2 Wicked tickets. #YOLO my butt LOL

Add me to the camp of people who don't see the humor. I am glad that people are at least going to and enjoying theatre!

I don't see anything funny about those. We all have different tastes what you thought might have been a bad show might be some one else's treasure. I thoroughly enjoyed shows like mama Mia and phantom.A musical is supposed to entertain and those two certainly did it for me.
this thread and that other one of "hilarious" things overheard are just attempts to make other people seem stupid for their opinions on some shows.

"What haven't you watched Namo?? How can you hate something youv'e never watched??"
I'm going to assume Namo thought this was another one of those god-awful "Sh*t (fill in the blank) say" video memes, not that he was referring to any of the shows referenced.
And I agree with most others. None of the ones I read (I admit I only went a few down before losing interest) were "hilarious" in any way. It was just casual theatre-goers/tourists who enjoy coming to NYC to see the biggest titles they know. No reason to mock them for enjoying what they've seen, or anticipating seeing those shows which have become universal hits.
I too find their excitment and joy more endearing then funny. Good for them! It is what the "magic" of live theatre should generate.
What I find most obnoxious about this is how people who aren't die hard theatre fans (like us on here) are being looked down upon. There are tons of people out there who still like to see shows on broadway even if they aren't devout broadway fans. So what of they see things that would not be our first choice. When I was first getting into Broadway when I was younger I also loved shows like Wicked, Phantom, and Mamma Mia! (heck I still love some of them) and I was not aware of some of the smaller shows. I just think treating these people who are excited to see a Broadway blockbuster as beneath you is just stupid. At least they are enthused to be seeing a show on broadway!
