The show is back this week! Who is going this Thursday to see the new version?
YESSS!!! The Spiderman Preview thread has returned
haha I am SO excited for its return you have no idea! I am going to see it this Friday!
At this point, no one cares any more...
Well, except for a few die-hard Spider-Man fans.
Will Julie be signing up here on Thursday under the name Spidey_Sux to bash the show?
We can only hope!

Forget the show. This thread is pure entertainment. SO thrilled to see this back.
(Just for the record, I do intend to catch Spidey again.)
How could you not go again?? It's got a new story AND new music. And all in only six weeks!!!
Now do we go back to counting the stoppages each night....because tech had never gotten entirely worked out from the previous extended preview run!
I'll be there on Thursday the 12th! But I didn't see the old version, so I won't be able to do a comparison.
Has there been any info yet as to the new runtime of the new Spider-Man?

I mean... I saw the show literally the night it returned after Chris's injury.
I had fun, but left kinda scratching my head (like everyone else around me).
But to be honest, to watch such a massive piece evolve so much since it's first performance really truly fascinates me. I can honestly say that I can't wait to see what they've done with it.
(Side note- I wonder if Tay-Tay is gonna see it post-hiatus/boycott it.)
Omigod- it's my favorite thread in BWW history. It's back! I feel like giving it a hug. I'm not going this time until AFTER opening. Re-opening, that is. I'll be interested to hear reports though. I'm expecting something tighter but with less 'pizazz' than before. I hope I'm half wrong though- the latter half.
OH! You know what I want to know the answer to: If Spidey already opened this past season, when Tonys for next year roll around, will this be considered in the revival category?? I feel like it's a perfectly legitimate question to me!

The show never officially opened and was thus not eligible for Tony consideration this year. Next year (2012) it will be eligible as a new musical, provided of course that it opens.
Damn, I never even realized it hadn't officially opened what with all the hoopla elsewhere with it. I was all ready for some serious Tony paradoxes to happen! A crack in the musical-space-time vortex! Too bad.

Going off the precedent set by The Scarlet Pimpernel I would guess that HAD they opened and gone through with this shut down and retooling and then petitioned for revival nomination they would have been denied.
Even if Spider-Man HAD opened already, Tony rules state that there must be at least three years between productions for it to count as a revival. That is why GRINCH and WHITE CHRISTMAS were not eligible in their second years, and also why (I believe) the recent LES MIS was not eligible. They would have had to petition for eligibility, and, like AEA AGMA SM said, probably would have been denied.
So they can just in previews for three years this time & then open!
It still won't be a revival because it never opened in the first place.

Cannot wait my current favorite musical to reopen. I hope it's a billion times better.
Like maybe the boy could really fall from the sky instead of freezing and telling us about it.
MORE ACTION.
I loved in Think Again when Arachne constantly dropped 30+ feet in the choreography. Heart pounding!
Are they keeping the title song, and just changing the meaning? It was the most gorgeous scene broadway has had.
I'm seeing it Friday...the 13th....day after it reopens....will post back.
Hello Spidey-Fanatics:
I can't believe the new version of Spiderman is finally upon us. I'm actually surprised by the sheer number of seats that are still available for Thursday night's performance. I've admittedly been contemplating whether or not to attend (just to see the changes), but then there's the other part of me that's already seen it twice and hesitant to shell out another $250-300 to see it again (especially if it still sucks).
So, why are people going Thursday night (if you are), and why have you opted not to go Thursday night (if you've thought about it)?
