Last I saw the show, Rise Above was a duet between Peter and Arachne were she 'bequeaths' the Spider-man outfit to him by the end of it. If I'm recalling right, MJ is nowhere around. I guess they just had Jenn sing this one time around.

I saw this last night. I have to say the set design, costumes and stunts were amazing but the book and music were lacking. Bono and The Edge were there to critique the show. With only 2 weeks to go until opening, I'm not sure what they can do to fix it but I hope they can because it does have a lot of potential.

I would rather them push back opening again and rework the book than open as it is on March 15. If they can the huge problems with the book and story, this show could be good. I personally love the music, it just needs to be better incorporated into the story and plot (which at this point is all over the place).

Katurian, Rise Above is now reprised at the finale as well. The Letterman performance is combination of both.

It seems worse than I remembered it on LEtterman. Bleh.

Thanks, dave. Good to know that there's a little more a moment between Peter and MJ in the end than there used to be.
I think the performance was pretty classy and subdued. It was very straightforward, and Reeve sounded fantastic. It was nothing that would make me want to buy a ticket if I were an outsider, but they didn't embarrass themselves, which at this point, I'd call a success.

That is what many call "The Best song" ?
Oh dear.
I'm sorry, but IMO, that was one of the weakest songs I've ever heard. Sure, it's not painfully bad...it's just, ya know, weak. All my friends also saw it and it made all of them NOT want to see the show.

I suggest Traymor hires Sheen for the flying sequences. It will all be done without wires so the safety problems automatically disappear.

Caught the performance on Letterman and was BORED out of my mind... nothing about the song was interesting or memorable.

I loved the performance on Letterman. It was slightly underwhelming, but I love the song and it works very well within the context of the show. I absolutely love the glittery spider webs with Arachne in her white gown and spider legs.

Personally, I thought Jenn sounded really good on it and actually made the song exciting. Reeve sounded pretty good but the night I saw him he sounded decent as well. I've never heard the alternate but from what I've heard, he's better. Reeve held his own, I suppose. I still would have chosen to mix two songs. I think "No More" is better than "Rise Above." I was hoping they'd sing some of it with Jenn Damiano out there.

Reeve's diction is certainly getting better.

with only 12 days until this officially opens, I'm guessing they won't push the opening until June like it was previously reported. Of course, Julie could announce on March 14 that the opening will be pushed up again.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

The only thing I took away from it was, "Man, Reeve sure is pretty. Like a girl."

So it was on TKTS today, 30% off. First time. I also checked ticketmaster at about 6:30 and there were still seats in row E (center orchestra) on the isle for $150...

Namo - Hahaha. What I am trying to say is that I love the song and actors, but the performance was not the most mindblowing and exciting thing ever. :)

I like Rise Above and besides Reeve being easy on the eyes that's about it.
One question though, this song makes it sound like Arachne is the one created Spider-Man, but isn't she a villain?

Why do 'pretty' male rockers ALWAYS look like my lesbian roommate from college? I mean, always. It's confusing and I wish they'd stop.

That's the thing that everybody's complaining about- it doesn't make sense... but yes. It is Arachne in SMTOTD that creates Spider-Man. She is actually the one who "bites" him in the beginning. In this song, she actually bestows his iconic outfit to him.
Yes, it's a turn from the traditional story, but if it was done correctly, it could really work. (Woah! Lots of comma's...)

I thought the song was pretty haunting. I liked the lyrics (probably because I understood them) and thought the arrangement they used worked very well out of context.
