I wanna say... is it a flower? I'm not quite sure.. but I think it might be
(or, well yes, it's the finale, but I'm guessing you meant what is it actually right? haha)
I think it just sounds pretty and poetic and all that.

i think it symbolizes forgiveness, as it does in religion. it's the answer to all the lyrics pleading "all will be forgiven"

My question was more - why do they not ever mention it in the show until the finale?
Yeah, it just annoys me.

I google imaged it, and that's what I got, so I think it is indeed a *very pretty* flower
but yes, its also just really pretty and poetic

So the real answer, redfuzzycow, is to see THE COLOR PURPLE before SPRING AWAKENING, in order to receive an explanation for the ending of SPRING AWAKENING?
It's like theatrical incest.
I am really frustrated because it never occured to be that the Song of Purple Summer that I heard live is different than the recording, or so some adept street teamer informed me.
Mama Who Bore Me is a dangerous song to sing, because some people will confused you for gospel choir or one of those Jesus freaks. Totally f-ed got us kicked out of the Union Square Market, we were told to go sing by the entrance.

I think I BELIEVE would be a neat song for you hookers to harmonize to on the street.

oh by the way, someone already mentioned it, but I HIGHLY recommend checking out the latest Broadway Beat video for those who havn't yet! (the clip of the cast singing Purple Summer is a little more than halfway through) The new version is sooooo gorgeous. It's kind of ridiculous how much it gives me chills.
and I agree, I Believe would def draw me in if I were a random passer by on the street!
If I hadn't heard I Believe before and people were singing it on the street I would think they were a religious group or something...

We actually had a guy who could sing this week, so there was a pretty mean "Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind" at some points. "Totally F-ed" works downtown. To be honest I think we did "I Believe" this week because someone had speakers and they were singing over the music. Marlene is great at dissonance...not so much with harmony.
Saw the show for the fifth time tonight....it just gets better w/ time! Lea was unreal tonight. I was fourth row and Whispering was so powerful and I didn't know if she was gonna get through it she was crying so hard. She really sounded great and did some acting things tonight that I hadn't seen before that were all just lovely. talked with the cast afterwards...such a lovely group of people and w/ how many fans there were and in the FREEZING cold I was impressed at just how chill they were. Gallagher is AWESOME to talk to. It was a great night and Steven Sater was there. At intermission i just quietly tapped him on the shoulder and told him how beautiful I thought the show was.
it was a great night! Audience loved the show and it was SOLD OUT!

there's a video of some street teamer singing "Mama Who Bore Me" on the forbidden site. Search "Spring Awakening Street Team."
Unfortunately, I don't think that's the best way to advertise.
LMAO. It isn't the ideal song for so many reasons...I refuse to comment because I <3 the street team.
You do occasionally get wtf is happening factor, and the flyer helps, and then it's magic it's like OH THIS IS SPRING AWAKENING. *enter Marlene's enthusiastic schpeal*
Ideally if someone got us speakers that didn't violate NYC noise levels but don't die b/c of the traffic, that would be ideal.

The girl singing MWBM on the street team video is a very enthusiastic fan. She has guts to do that.
Just to add to the last post, yes, she is very enthusiastic and supports the show 100%. Anyone who has met her knows what a sweet person she is and can instantly see how much it means to her to be doing this for something that she believes in so much. I agree that it takes guts and I give her credit for doing it!
Aww, I love her. She's so nice & incredibly devoted.
I've never met her, of course, but from what I can tell online.

Don't forget: Wedndesday, Letterman. Thursday, The View.
They are doing "Touch Me" on The View. Dunno about Letterman, but I have reason to believe it is "Bitch of Living".
Yes, they will be doing Bitch of Living on Letterman.
So are only the boys gonna be on Letterman then?
I'm going to try and get tickets for Letterman tomorrow. Am I insane?
