Hmn...Rita is in LA. On Wednesday she is the guest at The View. I wonder if her interview has been pretaped. I have a ticket, but don't want to go if she isn't going to be there in person.
Rachel Zegler and Mike Faist are getting a ton of raves from people I know who saw it and from social media responses. My god I cannot wait to see this film.
First of all, that premiere poster is drop dead STUNNING! Second, I am so happy to see these very positive first reactions especially towards the direction, music, cinematography, chorography, screenplay and actors. Rachel, Ariana, David, Mike and Rita getting these glowing notices are truly wonderful, now I did hear that while Ansel did a very good job with his acting/singing/dancing, some do say he was a little out of place in comparison to the actors around him which I honestly did see coming.
Still, I'm so happy that Steven Spielberg still has that magic touch, with some reactions saying that it's among his best work he's done in 20 years. If that's not high praise, I don't know what is.
URINETOWN is a musical genre Spielberg wouldn’t tackle. His one attempt at comedy was the 1979 film 1941 and he’s respectfully kept his distance from directing a comedy after that film colossally flopped and humbled him as he has said he was on such a winning streak at the time he thought he couldn’t fail at anything, which is why he tried comedy.
So weirdly the thing I'm wondering is do we finally get the full "A Boy Like That/I Have a Love" on film for the first time? Cause the '61 film cuts the "Boy Like That" section short and removes the counterpoint between her and Maria which I love. It's tremendously operatic
