TAMMY FAYE will transfer to Broadway in 2024-2025 Season — Page 11

The role of Jerry Farwell in "Tammy Faye" was created in London by Zubin Varla. In the London production of "Fun Home," Varla played the role created by Michael Cerveris.

I was low-key kind of hoping Varla would transfer with this because I love his Judas but Cerveris gets me to buy tix too.

Whats with the crazy timings of performances? Are they usually these random times on random days? No wonder Brtoadway shows never start on time

It’s a little scattered, but it looks like the schedule makes allowances for Election Day, opening night, and Thanksgiving.

I guess 1 o’clock curtains are the new thing. I see it’s becoming more and more common. Also, the show is making a go at Sunday evening performances 7 o’clock, instead of Wednesday matinees. Smart move

Are you trying to figure out what start times work best for a Sunday?

FYI, they're no longer selling balcony seats.
Posted: 8/15/24 at 8:14pm
I already bought a balcony ticket whats going to happen to it?
Posted: 8/15/24 at 8:54pm
Honestly, it’s probably for the best. The great Gatsby closed the back mezzanine and it’s been working out great for them.

We balconygoers will likely be moved to the mezzanine. It could happen on the night of the show, or we might be offered the free upgrade ahead of our performance date.
I have a ticket in the last balcony row - H - for a late October date.

Still 1300 seats to move forward 8x a week, but probably more manageable.

I have/had tickets to the 1pm show on 13th Nov, but it doesnt seem to exist on the booking site now, at least not on Broadway Direct, but it is on sale on Ticketmaster.
Is that a normal thing?

Borle as Jim Bakker
Posted: 8/16/24 at 10:13pm
Somehow Borle looks even nerdier with glasses. :)

That balcony is a nightmare, but booking this show at the Palace was always an uphill battle.
Posted: 8/17/24 at 2:21pm
Long term, I just don't see who this show appeals to?

Gays and right wingers?
Posted: 8/17/24 at 10:39pm
I'm not sure the right wingers will love it. The book is pretty political and none of them come off well in it.
Surely there is an audienceof people who loved Tammy Faye and the PTL network, back in the day?
It starts previews in 9 weeks time.

They will need to have a brilliant social media/marketing team just like The Great Gatsby. Obviously good reviews and word of mouth too. Hopefully Elton John will help sell the show.

This photo is already 100 times better look-wise, for the characters, than Rannells.

Shouldn’t they have announced the cast by now? I know people have accepted offers as early as June, but I guess the loss of Rannells may have put the show in jeopardy and people found other jobs before the show stuck the landing on Borle

That is giving Rannell's far too much credit. His loss didn't put the show in any jeopardy and arguably, Christian Borle is as much as a draw as Rannell's would be with Broadway audiences.
The role of Jim played by Borle is big but it isn't the lead, that belongs to Katie Brayben, a name new to Broadway but one that folks will be talking about a lot once the show launches.
I am as anxious as anyone else to know the remainder of the cast but few shows announce their casts more than a couple of weeks out from first rehearsals.

Nederlander is a producer on this, they wouldn’t put it in there if they didn’t believe in it. I’m also happy for Tom Deering who is the musical supervisor on this. He also did the arrangements and orchestrations and additional music. He’s worked on lots of musicals in London including Standing at the Sky’s Edge. I think Tammy Faye is the only musical so far that has any serious chance at winning Best Musical.

That is giving Rannels entirely too much credit. Plus, the only people asking about the remaining cast is this board. It isn’t a red flag by any means.
