DTLI Consensus: Uneven and poorly executed if well-sung enough? You could do better than that for a beloved title's highly anticipated Broadway debut.

Curious what these reviews mean for any possibility of the extension they’re looking into, since this isn’t exactly selling great to begin with.

Stuck like a dope with this thing called hope…
Warren would’ve probably had to unilaterally clear the board with outstanding reviews to stand a fighting chance. This is the first time in my lifetime that I recall such a critical drubbing of a a JRB show….

Honeymoon in Vegas.
"Not since Beanie Feldstein in the 2022 revival of Funny Girl has the advance skepticism that greeted a Broadway casting announcement proved so apt"
HAHAHAAAAAA! Now THAT'S a pull quote 😂

Honeymoon in Vegas."
Did it? I seem to recall that HONEYMOON was somewhat well-received from some major publications, and Brantley gave it a Critic's Pick too.

Im still hoping to get easy tickets when Keiserman and Nasia are on.

Nicole would like to have a word.
This was some of the announced star casting of the season. But - an honest question - is it? Warren should be/will be a star, but not yet. And Jonas's celebrity belongs to another era. Hasn't popped up on TDF yet, but the spring is crowded. I have always liked the score, and would love to hear Warren tear into it. But per all the reviews, the still shots of the show make it look - what's a fair term - cheesy. Leaning toward tacky, as in The Wedding Singer kitsch, not the world the piece conjures.

Auggie, it was on TDF last week for about 4 dates. I got one for this Wednesday.

I suspect tickets will be cheap when either Nick or Warren are out. But people want to see both standbys in this, so the box office might get slammed when it happens at first.
The Jonas Brothers mayor be of “another era” but they are playing stadiums on tour this summer, a feat I’m not entirely sure they reached at their actual peak.
Nostalglia is at an all time high for entertainment appeal for Zillenials—Nick Jonas is a pretty big draw.
Considering the soft ticket sales for this, no he really isn't. And just like Funny Girl, people are waiting to see the understudy who is far superior in terms of musical theater and everything that involves.
They really screwed this up. This show didn't need a celebrity, the material is strong on its own. So, they should have come to Broadway in 2013 with Betsy and Adam. They had great chemistry and actually like each other in real life. It would have been successful. What a waste.

Came here just to see if anyone was talking about this. It was WILD. He called Whitney White a DEI hire.

Yeahhhh. He started it by saying "I'll probably get in trouble for this, but I LOVE DEI!" and then went on about the benefits of DEI. But then doubled down hard in such a misguided way and said something to the effect of "and without DEI we wouldn't have artists like our director." It was incredibly uncomfortable and she looked incredibly uncomfortable.

After reading your comment, I looked at ticket sales for some of the venues they are playing and most here in the US don't appear to be anywhere near sold out at this point.

If you look at availability for seats for most of their stadium shows -- many dates are barely 1/3rd sold. They way overestimated their drawing power.

I an not sure it will make any difference to sales.
