What did she say?
FWIW, I saw a matinee of Roommate and didn't hear Hell's Kitchen because they don't play until 2, and Roommate ended at 2:30. On the flip side, however, I saw Hills of California and I think I heard a piece of Hell's Kitchen, but both could totally bleed through I can imagine.
Lupone is in the right, if they can make small changes to make each shows experience better, that's a good thing! and Mia Farrow signed the flowers as well. There's a Roommate costume crew member who is also agreeing why Lupone is right. This likely wasn't just Patti's decision, but she has the biggest platform and thus gets the most heat.

I think that is part of Kecia’s issue Patti did not converse with the production, the company or “the community” as she put it. She went to the theatre owner who addressed the issue with the production."
How exactly do you converse with the company and community? The company of a show doesn’t have the power to change a sound cue. The sound designer of Hell’s Kitchen definitely isn’t still going to shows. This sorta change needs to come from producers/theater management as it requires paying people for extra work. It’s not a “hey my friend in the cast, can you do this differently tonight?”

I'm curious. Would someone without Patti's star power go directly to a theater owner of another production? Aren't there channels that these types of issues are generally handled?

I don’t know if there are existing channels exactly. I guess if Patti wasn’t the star it may have been the roommate’s producers -> hells kitchen’s producers
I have respect for Kecia Lewis, but her decision to play out what seems like a matter of personal opinion on social media feels a bit cheap and opportunistic. It sounds like LuPone and the production of The Roommate acted appropriately and respectfully, and they were gracious in response. Was LuPone expected to go to every member of the Hell's Kitchen company and ask their personal permission?

Does anyone think that Patti LuPone would have behaved any differently if Tommy or American Idiot were playing next door?
an actual racist is on track to be elected (again) on tuesday, and the country is fighting for its democratic life with a Black woman leading the charge.
in this context, calling Patti LuPone a racist for asking to adjust some sound cues is infuriating. it so cheapens the stakes, and so undermines the fight (the fight that Kecia Lewis' character so beautifully addresses in the show!).
I’m a little incredulous over the idea that LuPone can call up the Shuberts herself and have them make a production change sound cues. I don’t doubt that the complaint originated with her or that she spearheaded it, but it seems far more plausible that a producer is the one who was the go-between and that “Patti complained” became the narrative.
Anyone who went to law school would know that if you do not complain about a nuisance, it would become a prescriptive easement after a certain period of time, and you would no longer have legal standing about the nuisance. It's very standard and the production team is doing the right thing to let HK know about the issue.
I don't see what the issue is with Patti's initial request and one that was resolved without incident (we don't really know exactly when that all occurred, The Roommate has been running a few months now.) I also don't understand why anyone would then ask her sign a playbill for Hell's Kitchen while she is stagedooring for her own show. So the comment was a little catty. Also, I was under the impression that Patti didn't stagedoor, had I known I would have stayed to get my playbill signed. 🥲

same, wondering how often does Patti stage door for The Roommate? Would love to stop by after seeing another show to have my Playbill signed (I didn't wait for her when I saw the show)
Whether or not Patti stage doors on a regular basis, it’s pretty tacky to ask someone to sign a playbill from a show they’re not in.
The Roommate was canceled 20 minutes before the performance was supposed to start tonight. Any idea why? why can't they let the understudy go on?

Someone had laryngitis. I guess they figure everyone will ask for refunds.

I'm sure some people would rather atleast see one of them instead of not see the show at all, so odd.
This is the third time they've refused to let the u/s go on. I get Equity rules, but that's pathetic. let's see how many shows get canceled this weekend. this production is a joke.
Carol Halstead got to go on today for Patti. She was going to go on last night, but Patti decided last minute to do the show sick (typical of Patti).
