Since the play seems to be relying on "name" performers, perhaps they should have hired two "name" performers as Standbys to fill in when something like this happens. For instance, Marsha Mason, as Associate Director, could have been a Standby for Mia and be prepared with the script already memorized.

I mainly know her from her years-long recurring role as the grandmother on The Middle - an outstanding show that got good ratings, lasting nine seasons, but somehow managed to fly under most people's radar. She was excellent in it, of course.

It would be insane to think any production would get "names" as a standby.
I would consider myself fortunate to see the great Marsha Mason perform in this or any other play, script in hand or not.

I know that Donna McKechnie was the official Standby for Chita Rivera in THE VISIT and Larry Kert was the official Standby for Peter Allen in LEGS DIAMOND. They are listed in the Internet Broadway Database. Perhaps there are others as well.
It also depends on what one defines as a “name” - a household name or a Broadway name.
Jennifer Simard (initially silently) stood by for LuPone in Company and took over for a week when she got COVID
Jimmy Nail also was moved to standby for Sting in THE LAST SHIP when he came into the show
Neither McKechnie or Larry Kert are "names". Broadway names, yes, but they wouldn't limit audience members from asking for a refund.

I'd assume Tuesday and Wednesday at least. Protocols are just 5 days quarantine. This also comes with the possibility that LuPone keeps testing negative as well. If anything, and Halstead is able to go on, we might get the actual u/s instead of Mason.

Agreed. And in regards to Marsha Mason, she does have four Academy Awards nominations under her belt. Though younger generations may not have the name recognition of Ms. Mason, I also don't think those (younger) generations are the target audience for this production either.

Hi all!
A question that maybe somebody here knows more about than I --- I'm going into the city for a birthday trip on Friday. We had gotten tickets to THE ROOMMATE, mostly to see Mia. Do you all think there's any chance she'll be back by then? Do you know when it will become clear?
If not, is it possible to call and get a refund or an exchange? I feel bad, especially with the wonderful Marsha Mason, but Mia was really the reason for the trip.
Thank you thank you!

You can definitely get a refund or exchange but it's impossible for us to know when she will be back for sure. You just have to play it by ear. Good luck!

Okay! Thank you :)
Mason will be on tonight and tomorrow, per the box office.
Tonight was pretty damn special. Mason's Sharon is a lot different than Farrow's is, this woman reminds me more of my Mom. And even with script in hand, she gave a completely realized version of the character.
But ladies and gentlemen something happened on that stage that I never thought I'd see. Patti got totally lost in a scene and they spent about 4-5 minutes going through the script and even the SM over the loud speaker was directing them where they needed to be in the script and with prompts. For some reason, Patti just seemed to veer back to the wrong line and it kept throwing her off. The audience, myself included, was (obviously) eating up every delicious second of this while the two women just laughed at the ridiculousness of the situation and tried to figure out what the hell was going on. I know people will say "how unprofessional" blah blah blah but in all honesty it was one of the realest things I've ever seen actors go through onstage in a moment like that. Absolutely a highlight of my theater-going life.

Called the box office and they said she's back!

Excellent. Happy to know she has recovered. The show was in good hands with Marsha during Mia's absence.
Fabulous news! But how do you call a box office these days?! I thought that went out with the 70’s!

Well... called the number of the Booth theater, which is really just Telecharge, and then pressed the button for customer service.

Leighton Meester impresses in this role of a sympathetic roommate. A horror film for all people in shared accommodation.
Nice but without any originality.
I would say that I enjoyed this film even if it is definitely not my favorite genre. The construction and development of the actions are logical and perfectly on time.

Some of the most fun I've ever had in a theater. The play makes no sense. Mia is sensational. The play makes no sense. Patti is Patti. I've never laughed so much (even at the serious parts). How does Mia turn in such a wonderful performance among all this? What a great night out.
I think at the end, Mia does all that coke, and then writes this play.
