Again, it isn't about the "significance" or size of the role when it comes to the women, but rather who's doing more stellar work. I'd place Audra above Phillipa (but both below Cusack).

Tuck Everlasting looks pretty good honestly. Does anyone think it might get a nomination for best musical?
Looking to the potential future, I think it will be historically viewed as a travesty if the performer who originated the role of Eliza Hamilton in the original production of Hamilton was not nominated for a Tony Award. Jus'sayin.

I agree! Such an important piece of the story and pulled off so well by Phillipa. She sneaks up on you and then by the end you're just with her 100%.
Really hoping for 6 nominations in this category.
Historically, Hamilton will be celebrated just fine, with or without a nomination for Soo. What a silly way of discussing whether she deserves a nomination over others who some are arguing are doing better work.

No-one is arguing that she deserves a nomination over anyone, I think we're all hoping for the 6.
And it will seem a little strange to (likely) see all the other main players nominated and not Soo.

Not sure about Best Musical, but it should totally be considered for the acting categories with Sarah Lewis being a stand out, and the visuals are actually the best in the business this season.

I would love to see six nominees too. Because each is deserving in her own way.
As far as the "significance" of roles…I agree that the size of the role shouldn't matter. It's the performance, and the dynamics behind the performance, that's important. A true talent can pack a lot into a smaller role. Sometimes more than a performer with a larger role.
I don't think Soo is getting a nomination. And sorry to all Hamilton fans but I don't know if they are but I don't think either of the featured acting Tonys are going to Hamilton actors/actresses.

You don't need to apologize for an opinion but Renee and Daveed are the favorites.

I think Daveed will win, and the only real non-Hamilton contenders are Christopher Fitzgerald, Gavin Creel, and Nicholas Barasch. The contenders in Renee's category are a lot more competitive, because Danielle or Jane could easily win in my opinion.
I'm loving the #BroadwaySoDiverse buzz (vs. #OscarsSoWhite) starting up around this season- there is a long article posted about this on Mashable today that's worth a read- http://mashable.com/2016/05/01/broadway-so-diverse/#zmixOO82ikqC The Tony's will definitely kick the Oscar's a## this year with representation (or at least they better, otherwise it would be a complete embarrassment..).
Speaking of, the article mentions Spring Awakening a lot with so many differently abled actors, and it just reminds me how desperately I want it to get nominated for at least a few Tony's this year. What do we think are their best chances? It would be a damn shame if this beautiful show didn't get at least some of the recognition it deserves.
The best chances for "Spring Awakening" are Direction and Choreography, and in my opinion, Featured Actress for Krysta Rodriguez. There's still that last spot that people can't seem to cohesively agree on who should be there, I think she could grab it. I don't think Revival will happen, although that would be absolutely lovely if it did. Spencer Liff confirmed that if they're nominated (for Revival, but perhaps for anything) that they will be performing at the Tonys for sure.

Thanks for that article, very interesting.
It would be such a shame for DWSA to go unnoticed at the Tonys after it received such acclaim. I hope the voters keep it in mind.

I hope DWSA is nominated for Revival! Having seen all four revivals this season, I would certainly put it in over Fiddler. I think it could get in for Direction and Choreography, but I'd also love to see them win a Special Tony for just what they did on that stage bringing deaf and hearing actors together in such a fantastic way.

Sad, yet understandable, that people keep forgetting about this season's 5th revival: the delightful Dames at Sea. I understand Dames at Sea has 0 chance of being nominated, but I personally enjoyed it significantly more than both Color Purple and Fiddler.
I feel like I may be counting out Allegiance. Does anyone think it has a chance of sneaking in a surprise nomination for book or music? I didn't see it but from what I remember quite a few people seemed to admire it. Performance Categories are such an embarrassment of riches this season that it seems highly unlikely for Lea, Telly or George to be nominated.
In any other year , it might have a slim chance. This year it will have none.
Krysta Rodriguez was my favorite part of Spring Awakening, which I personally didn't care for, but I would be very surprised to see someone get nominated for what's essentially a 10-minute part in a revival that's been closed for six months.
Soo will get in on the strength of her performance, the HAMILTON buzz, and the beautiful way in which her role is written. It's a killer combination that should see her (rightfully) earn a nod. It's hard to imagine only five women getting in for lead actress in a musical, the category this year is so strong that I'd love to see 7 nominees.
Looks like Nikki M. James is replacing Patina Miller as an announcer tomorrow morning.
I'm a fan of Soo, so this might not have much merit - but I think Soo packs more into a single intake of breath than a certain other actor packs into the entire role, and he's almost a lock for a lead actor nomination.

Huh. I hope all is well with Patina.
I was reading gold derby's website and they have Leslie Odom Jr. at 100/1 to win. I know the consensus is Danny is winning (hope not) but Leslie at 100/1 seems crazy.
