That performance convinced me to go see the show.

My wife does not watch musical theatre at all. Her jaw hit the floor watching Joaquina.

Tonight is not a memorial to Sondheim, and if you were expecting it to be one then you were misinformed. You'll recall Jerry Herman and Hal Prince (who both died in 2019) received zero standout tribute by the Tonys. Same with Edward Albee, Terrence McNally, Jimmy Nederlander, and others.
And of course Sondheim was also represented with all the COMPANY wins, its performance, and the opening number. And the night isn't over yet!

No worries - I really appreciate your perspective on this, and of course everything else you've contributed here over the past years (decades?).

Why is the camera work so bad. We keep seeing people's heads and shots from weird angles. Side shots and that crazy close up during A Strange Loop. Just show us the performances from the front of the stage please.
So far, Paradise Square is the only performance that has made me want to buy a ticket.

Definitely looking forward to seeing what box office bumps come out of tonight.

She didn't sound great, but the performance (and the tear running down her face) more than made up for it.

Joaquina’s single tear showing Hugh how to do an extreme close up

It was a really, really good Tony performance (and a reminder that that song is an insult to the profession of lyricists). I bet they have a good day at the box office tomorrow.

I'm with you. Normally I LOOOOVE her, but she was off-pitch the ENTIRE time.
I wish I saw Paradise Square before this. People will be FLOCKING to the Barrymore after that performance!
Please let PARADISE SQUARE win best new musical!

That is... not at all what's about to happen.

The whole song was off key. No bueno.

Damn I wish David Morse won. He was incredible in How I Learned to Drive.

It's cute when people think that this will save the show from losing its whole investment and more.
Funny - once the Times did that story about out of town voters not being eligible this year, i changed a handful of my online predictions and they’ve all been right (so far).
It’s easier to describe if I go into detail but that’s over drinks one day. :)"
Careful, Jordan. Next time I'm in NYC I might just take you up on that.

So upset Mary-Louise didn’t win. Her performance at the Friedman this season was just beyond.
