How - in a THREE HOUR BROADCAST - is there not room for these awards to be on the main televised show? The Special Awards all had lovely pre-recorded interviews - the speeches were wonderful - and the award doesn't lose it specialness. But give these folks their moment on the main program.

It's the risk of people changing the channel. These awards are too niche for TV."
I don't disagree that is the thinking but it's real sily thinking. I could have understood that argument 20 years ago but at this point, no one is watching the Tonys besides the diehard fans. Maybe when it inevitably moves to streaming though, they just won't care and will just do a really long show."
No, you'd be surprised how many non-fans watch this just because Hollywood stars are on.
