the first stumble for PINK was that free speech bit which was neither funny nor sensical.
SHOCKED that Ragtime won. A real gasp! Now cue all the bitter CATS fans alleging every single nasty barb they can think of...I already see some unabashed racism in response on this Board. Im sure Lynn Flaherty had something lovely to say about Terrence McNally but we will never get to hear it.
This is a beautiful rendition of Without You by the ever reliable Odom Jr.

This is pretty embarrassing for the Tonys. Goes to show some of the voters aren't capable of knowing what the best artistically interesting production is. They voted for comfort.

i wish. I doubt the show could afford whatever she would want in terms of a salary. Maybe her daughter, Willow?"
Her daughter Willow is a 15 year old teenager. Where in CHICAGO does she fit?! Tell us. 🤣

It was a perfect representation of how Broadway doesn't know what it needs most nowadays. This is why most new musicals will be closing within months, the edge is gone.

Wow, that was absolutely stunning. I would love a recording of this version, Leslie is such a talent.
Rest in Power, All.

I don’t think In Memoriam calls for a sustained note in the end

I understand all the reasons why CATS is more deserving in terms of REVIVING a show given the creativity, but its lazy and silly to now pretend that RAGTIME is some unworthy unloved flop.
What ignorance, as if CATS means theres no place for anything else on Broadway?
I might remind you that it opened at City Centers right when this country was descending into fascist madness, and that these actors singing these lyrics was cathartic heaven in that moment. I might also remind you that the show has been mostly sold out from the jump, a monster hit. Grow up.

Most new musicals will be closing because they're not very good!

I posted this in another thread, but I was in line waiting to get into a show last night. I overheard a conversation where a veteran Broadway marketer was asked if he saw Cats: The Jellicle Ball. His response was, no, I hate Cats. I think the loss has to do more with people just don't like Cats. I know this production reinvented the material, I thought it was pretty special when I hated the last revival of Cats, but it may have too much of a negative history.

I really hate when they turn that into a joke. It’s not a joke for some people in this country.

Here comes to haters slamming their decision about Ragime and how everything is corrupt and blah blah blah blah blah blah...............Quizking (who slammed and insulted Ragtime for 8 months imploded). Because everyone knows if Cats won, the Ragtime fans would be told to "calm down". Love.

Except I never said any of that. I just said Broadway doesn't know it needs tedge to survive and at no point I called Ragtime an "unworthy unloved flop". Feels better to create your own agenda?
