Have a great time jennamajig! Let us know how it was.
Yes, Harvey had a great attendance record so you should be fine.
I'm also traveling in from NJ for Sunday's performance. Yeah, the city will definitely be busy tomorrow - but you will have a great time.
One of my favorite shows ever. I'll be there on Sunday crying my eyes out!
I'll also try and lotto tomorrow afternoon.
This is my favorite show... ever.. hands down!
I saw it on tour last year and it was great! i LOOOVED it and when I heard it was closing, i was DEVASTATED! I told my parents, all I ever wanted was to see Hairspray on Broadway and so, for christmas, they got me tickets :)
we saw it last sunday, and it was SO much more thrilling than the tour, but it just blew me away!!!!
I Know Where I've Been has been my favorite song from it, but hearing it there.. omg... TOTALLY AMAZING! I got goosebumps!!! it was phenomenal!
This will always hold a special place in my heart and everyones :)
LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!
Luckily it has been immortalized with a movie, though nothing will compare to the Broadway production. Hope the tour lasts for a significant amount of time...
While the tours feature the same music, choreography and costumes, as well as talented people, they never seem to be able to come close to the magic of the Broadway production. Hmm...

I would listen to it almost everyday and i've loved it ever since. I still got You Can't Stop
The Beat. stuck in my head so I'd like to thank the entire production team for creating such a brilliant peice of Musical theatre I will always remember this show. The production featured a cast full of energy splashy up beat numbers and inspiring characters. I'm gonna miss you Hairspray.

The First National did...
In spades.
Ok..I'll admit that...the first national tour with Carly Jibson, Bruce Villanch and Austin Miller was pretty great.
TheatreDiva, you make a very good point. I saw the Broadway production in December 2002 and the tour during it's premiere in Baltimore and actually preferred the touring company at that time. To this day, Carly Jibson remains my favorite Tracy.

A few years ago, I happened to be listening to this radio show out of Toronto that plays all showtunes for two hours every Saturday. "You Can't Stop The Beat" came on. I remember thinking "What is this song?! It's so infectiously joyful. I love it." I ended up picking up the OBC (not soundtrack..hehe) at the store just to listen to YCSTB again. I did, then eventually played the whole CD. It was chop full of amazing song after song. Usually a show has a few great ones and a few automatic skip-overs. With possibly the exception of "Miss Baltimore Crabs," every number in HAIRSPRAY hits it out of the park.
Of course the messages wrapped up in this musical fun fest are great too. Believe in yourself. Dare to dream. Love yourself for who you are.. whether that's black, white, chubby or someone who likes to dress up in women's clothes. You care about the characters. You relate to them. You root for them. And all that makes the climactic ending that much more satisfying. It truly is one of the best musicals of this decade.
I will be there Sunday to kiss my girl goodbye one final time. Thank you HAIRSPRAY for making the world a better place, one infectious beat after another.

I saw Hairspray for the first time in May 2007 for my birthday. I had the choice between Hairspray and Mary Poppins and although I knew Hairspray had been there for a few years and was supposed to be great, I told my mother I wanted Mary Poppins because the OBC was still there and my friend had just saw it. For whatever reason we couldn't get MP tickets and saw Hairspray row F of the mezz. WOW. I was a changed person when that two hours and forty minutes was up. I always loved Broadway and wanted to pursue musical theater but Hairspray made me want it even more and gave me that giant push to get started.
I've seen the show 11 times since then hopefully a 12th before sunday.. and then a final time on the 4th. Ironically enough, I end the Hairspray journey where it began, row F of the mezz.
I've had so many great times due to this show. I got to backstage once because I carelessly left my bag under my seat and so they let me go backstage and get it and even take a run out on the stage, which was.. i don't even know.. there are no words for it.
I've even picked up a prop along the way! They gave me one of the Ultra Clutch cans they use in the show with all the fake Hairspray in it.
The OBC soundtrack is always in the car and everytime I get in..BAM! it plays!
Thank you Hairspray for changing my life and making me really truly realize my dream. It won't be the same knowing you won't be playing at the Neil Simon anymore =(

I've seen Hairspray 11 times. It changed my life in ways I can't even describe. It influnced my career choice. I can't tell you how much this show means to me and how sad I am it is clsoing, or that it is "stopping it's beat". I have had the pleasure of going backstage twice, thanks to a very special cast member. I have grown to know many cast members from this show and am sad for them that they will all be out of a job, and not only them, but the crew as well and everyone else that is invloved with this amazing production. I wil be balling my eyes out on January 4th (from row F of the mezz as well....i've never sat in the mezz there, i hope it's a great seat!) and will always love this show. I have seen this show from the front row 9 out of the 11 times I have seen it. I think I'm going back Friday or Saturday to lotto one last time!
The first time I saw the show was September 1st, 2006. I remmeber I thought Caissie Levy was the funniest person, ever. haha. I thought Haylie Duff was amazing (gag me....i know better now). I was just blown away from the first moment I saw it. I have seen numerous people in all different roles, EXEPT for Seaweed. Tevin has NEVER been out when I'm there and wouldn't want it any other way. I have seen 4 different Tracy's (Shannon is my favorite), 4 different Penny's (Caissie is my favorite), 4 different Ambers (Ashley Spencer is my favorite), 4 different Edna's (Paul Vogt, FTW) , 5 different Link's (Connie, or Van..not sure which I love more), 4 different Corny's (Clarke is my fave), 5 different Motormouths (Darlene is my favorite), and I think 5 different Velma's (Isabel is my favorite). and I am so grateful I have had the chance to see so many different talented people come in and out of the ensemble. I love this cast, the music, and the show itself more than anything on Broadway. Goodbye Baltimore!

I saw this for the first time on October 19th and it was amazing! I wish I would have seen it sooner, I'll miss it.
I'm very glad I was able to see Marissa's return performance. Hairspray was one of the first Broadway shows I really followed, and remains one of my favors. It will be sorely missed on Broadway; shows like this are getting rarer.
You Can't Stop the Beat is probably one of the best, if not THE best, show finales.
Just got back from seeing the show this afternoon and it made me realize how much I really love this show. I think it may be the best musical on Broadway at the current moment, which makes me even more sad it will be gone . (Full review to come when I get a chance.)

Did you see Bruce Villance- sp? I know I saw him in Boston- at the stage door after, I even stroked his newly shaven cheek!!
The beat will never stop, but Broadway will certainly be losing some magic when Hairspray closes.
I will always be grateful for the joyous experience I had seeing this wonderfully charming, funny, and heartfelt show with the perfect original cast. Thank you!

Wow. Row F of the mezz seems to be a popular choice. I'll be there, Sunday, in that row too... seats 110 and 111! Can't wait! Say hi everyone! I'll be the one screaming and crying... haha. Here's hoping they are great seats.

Totally agree with you Kad.
I've seen Hairspray three times: twice with Bruce Vilance and Shannon Durig (sp?) and on December 13 with Harvey and Marissa. I really love this show.
