I know there have been a million threads about this already, but they've been about specific pieces of speculation. I wanted to start a general umbrella thread for this.

News about Darren's casting emerged around February 17. News about Taye's casting emerged around May 17/18. If the production keeps this kind of continuity, we should expect casting news around August 17/18.

Any hard rumors?

The only rumor I was aware of was Alan Cumming but he already said he is not doing Hedwig after Taye.

Otherwise I haven't seen any actual rumors who it's going to be. Wishful thinking and ideas yes, but no actual rumors based on statements or pics or teasing etc.

Wishful thinking is that they are going to do something out of left field to get the attention and money rolling again.

I heard from a source the producers were actually toying around with the idea of having a female Hedwig... Which that kind of 'choice' would seriously depend on the actress, imo

They have been on the record that they wouldn't rule that out, and it would depend on casting for a while now.

I would love to see Gaga do it. I love her. I love her voice. I think she's amazing. Do you think she would do it? I don't see her doing it... but then again, I never thought she would be touring with Tony Bennett. She's full or surprises. I think she's just too big.

When I saw Ally Sheedy play Hedwig at Jane Street I never for one instance thought I was seeing a man with a botched sex change operation. Lena Hall was able to play Yitzhak and be believable as a man...It would take an actress with the right body and skills to be believable as a male Hedwig. Lady Gaga is an amazing musician and performer, but can she act?

Gaga would be great, but I think she will be filming Ameican Horror Story then. Unless they extend Taye or have someone else come back for a few weeks to bridge the gap.

If it was Gaga the ticket prices would be higher than the elevation Of Mount Everest.

In other words, they would be beyond ridiculous.

While recently watching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for the second time, I was struck by what an interesting and potentially phenomenal of a Hedwig Tituss Burgess could be.
