well considering JCM created it, i think it would be appropriate for either of them to close it out

Since neither is likely to happen, I guess I'll just let ya'll debate this like Tony nominees and just wait for the official word, heh. But JCM rarely sold out the house during his run, and NPH was selling $450 premium seats with barely any availability for much of his run. Commercially, there is no comparison.

They should have ALL SIX Hedwigs perform together on the stage at the same time.
A Gaggle of Hedwigs!

Isn't Neil's new TV show starting soon? Would he really be able to film and come back to Hedwig? Would he really want to?

NPH isn't filming his show. It's live and scheduled to run eight weeks.

"Commercially, there is no comparison."
This may be true but I think John has strong personal feelings about Hedwig. It's his baby, he has a large cult following and he knows how strong the following feels about him and Hedwig. I think there could be a chance that this is more important to him. Especially if he only closes the show with a few performances that would surely sell out.
Who knows? Only time will tell.

Well, you don't have to convince me of any of that, Jane. ![]()

It would never happen for multiple reasons (scheduling, stage time, logistics), but with how they each brought different things to their Hedwigs, and how they were each received by audiences in so many different ways for so many different reasons, it would be very cool to see a version with them rotating in and out each taking on the parts of the the show where they're the strongest.

Laverne Cox had a voice lesson with Liz Caplan today. She has seen the show (more than once I believe). Could she be our next Hedwig? I just don't know what she would be in a voice lesson for (and Liz works with the Hedwig cast).

Isn't Liz the go-to person for tons of shows and lots of people for a plethora of reasons, though?

Caitlyn has so freaked everybody out with her vocal feminization discussions I'm surprised Janet Reno hasn't gone to see Liz Caplin.

klsjdflasd if Laverne could manage the part vocally, that would be amaaazing! I feel like she could act the hell out of it, and it really would be awesome to see an actual trans person in the role, AND she's one of the few who's a big enough name that I could actually see it working from a sales perspective :)

I wish Billy Porter could do it after he leaves Kinky. But he'll probably be too busy with his new film and Shuffle Along.

I did a simple Google search for "Laverne Cox Hedwig" and this Soundcloud clip is the very first thing that came up. Granted, it's from October 2014 and things change, but I'm not sure if this would preclude her from wanting to be involved in the show.

Any new updates/rumors/speculation? I'm anticipating that this will be the week for news (and I'm standing by my August 17 theory), so if there are any final far-fetched fantasies, now's the time to share!

It can't / won't happen but I'd love the next Hedwig to be Jared Leto.
Here's why:
1. He's pretty enough
2. He can sing (in a successful rock band)
3. Oscar winning actor ( so he's a star with power to draw ticket buyers)
Still, it will never happen because he's an established star and unless he could open the show from the start I doubt he'd want to do it.

I was backstage on Andrew's second performance in the role, and I can confirm one of the producers talking about how NPH wanted to reprise his role when the show closed.
Then again, things change.
Desperately hoping that we get the casting back on track again. This show deserves as long of a run as possible.
JCM also whispered "Trust me, I'll be back, I caught the bug" to a girl at the stage door on his final performance.

I'm an aquaintace of Liz, and she (at least for now) will tell you that she was working with Laverne "just for the fun of singing" and without any alterior motives.
I trust her. She's not just the Hedwig voice coach, she does half of broadway, and quite a few Hollywood stars as well. But only time will tell....

Low key, if Hedwig is going to close next year, I wouldn't be surprised if Neil Patrick Harris returns, but the last week of performances would be performed by JCM. But, even if it isn't closing anytime soon I think both may return at some point and time.

JCM will be spending time filming and editing his movie for the forseeable future. Considering that he'll be expected to do a promotional tour prior to the film's release, I can't imagine him returning for at least a year, and probably longer.
But the patience will CERTAINLY be worth it!
