I agree 100% about MHE. That opener is simply a stunner. So much exposition is handled artfully, and in about 5 minutes we are deeply connected to the stakes and the subtheme of abandonment. As Oliver waits for word from James, our hearts already break. And the orchestration captures the emotional depth. I think it's a perfect song.

MHE needs Helen onstage IMO. In I think a discord group someone posted something that made it look like they were doing Rainy Day We Met.
DBH I think should be a brief If you want perfection into Alive Forever
OM I think should do Making a Man cuz for me it’s the bop of the show.

In a normal situation, I would understand why Floyd Collins wouldn’t choose ‘How Glory Goes’ but the show is about to close. Why not? Let Jeremy Jordan shine in a song that almost fits the allotted time.
Sunset Blvd. should choose one of Nicole Scherzinger’s ballads and I am sure they will. ‘As If We Never Said Goodbye’ would be my pick even though it’s too long. ‘With One Look’ is shorter.
Gypsy should do ‘Rose’s Turn’ for posterity’s sake.
I am a bit stumped on some of the other shows I’ve seen. ‘Born to Lead’ is the easiest choice, a truncated version of ‘Making a Man’ could work. It’s just too bad ‘Dear Bill’ is too long and doesn’t reflect the overall show because it’s so good.
I am a bit stumped on Maybe Happy Ending and Dead Outlaw. I understand the argument for Darren Criss’s opening song, but I too want to see Helen J. Shen. I don’t think ‘The Rainy Day We Met’ is the best choice but I understand why the producers would choose it, as the song doesn’t give too much away but gives a taste of the main characters’ dynamic at its most romcom. A medley of ‘Why Love?’ and ‘Hitting the Road’ would be my choice.
Dead Outlaw is tough, especially because they really need a home run. Do you want Andrew Durand alive or in a coffin? For a score with so many good songs, there’s not an obvious Tony Awards ceremony choice. Any ideas?

About MHE, I recently watched the Fallon segment and I thought it worked very well. It features the four cast members, including HwaBoon.

In the Broadway.com vlog that Andrew Durand is doing - one of the videos caught the team mentioning their Tony number will be 3-parts. I’m guessing -
“Dead” - showcases Jeb Brown and has been their main marketing song
”Normal” - showcase Durand and Knitel
“Something from Nothing” - the other one they’re been pushing
Or maybe “Stranger” since they’ve also been showing it off at events.
I’d love Mincemeat to do a sliver of Making a Man but they’ll prob do Born to Lead or maybe a sliver of Sail on Boys as well.
Would love for Floyd and Gypsy to showcase Jeremy and Audra.
What are the odds Sunset does a walk like the Olivier’s into one of the ballads or just a walk ?
also hoping for the Madcap Medley from the sensational Mary Todd that we all deserve.....

One of the staffs on Floyd ig story kind of confirm that they will do 'the ballad' + another song (i guess it's hgg)
I wish they will do the opening song where Jeremy climb all over the stage. That wd be cool but i dont think they gonna build that or put in an effort just to show one song.

Have they officially announced which shows are performing yet or if there will be any performances in "Act One?" It feels a little late for there to not be an announcement...any chance that Foster and the BOOP team shell out the money to do a smaller-scale performance to showcase Jasmine in the wake of the Drama Desks, or would the Hamilton performance have already taken any "non-nominated show" slot that may have existed?

They just posted and deleted the lineup, but it's all of the musical and musical revival nominees, plus Just In Time and Real Women Have Curves. The only major show missing is Boop which is a TRAVESTY for Jasmine, especially.
In a now deleted Instagram Post, The Tony Awards Announced the Following productions will perform:
Best Musical Nominees
Best Revival Of A Musical Nominees:
With additional Performances from the following:
Surprised the Smash producers aren't forking over the money to perform something.

Yep - guess they answered my question for me! I'm really bummed about Boop - hopeful it can hang in there for a Thanksgiving Day parade performance, though without any bump from the Tonys that feels really unlikely at this point. Thrilled for Real Women Have Curves, though, they really needed this!

Boop’s theater is already going to Chess. They’re a wrap.

Thanksgiving is almost 6 months away- Boop is lucky it's even running now.
BOOP is prepping to announce a closing the day after the Tony's.
Do the Jones and the Longacre have plays lined up for the fall, or is this a false rumor going around at the moment?
We’ve yet to hear formal announcements for COTTONFIELD, FETCH CLAY, MAKE MAN, THE GOAT, OR WHO IS SYLVIA?, and LITTLE BEAR RIDGE ROAD.

No production seeks out the Jones...they have the jones thrust upon them when every other theater is booked...so I think Fall productions are waiting to see what else folds before signing a lease on a theater.
All I really want from the Tonys is for HwaBoon to be a co-presenter in some category or other.
I feel like DBH would be crazy not to do For the Gaze at the Tonys - ideally with a healthy in-character intro from Jennifer so she gets a deserved moment.
Hoping/assuming Pirates does Modern Major General. The great DHP aside, it's so delightful especially with that semaphore choreo!
I saw Buena Vista so long ago and loved it - really looking forward to revisiting whatever they choose. Whatever the choice, I do hope they showcase the insanely talented Renesito Avich. He unexpectedly stole the show for me.
If Dead Outlaw is doing a medley, I could see them doing Ballad into Dead (with that great "Let's go rob..." line in between). Shows off both sides of the show well, I think - the gorgeousness of so much of the score, along with the more over the top ridiculousness and that harder rock sound.
Gypsy - Rose's Turn, Everything Coming up Roses... anything they choose will be good.
For Sunset, I'm torn between the title song and As If We Never Said Goodbye... though they should also show off the projection design if that's possible (is that in the title song? I can't remember). Leaning towards the former, esp because we have a flawless performance of AIWNSG from Nicole on Colbert for posterity... unless they're already going to play with "the walk" elsewhere in the Tonys like in an opening.
(Relatedly, with such a great year, this would be a perfect year to give all of the shows their moment in an opening alongside Cynthia, like the epic "Bigger" from NPH in 2013.)
I don't know Operation Mincemeat well enough after seeing it once, but could they not do an abridged Making a Man? If I'm remembering correctly it shows off the whole cast, and their likely winner Jak Malone's double role as Hester and Spilsbury.
I love the MHE opening, but I have to think they'll do something with the two leads. Any chance they bring in the fireflies, at least in part?
And that's fantastic for Just in Time and Real Women, but I'm crushed about Boop! Maybe there's still time to find a benefactor? 🙏 They should 100% do an abridged Where Is Betty into (a perfect segue!) Jasmine singing an abridged Something to Shout About. I know the sad reality is that it doesn't have a long life ahead of itself on Broadway (though neither does RWHC), but I think it could for sure have a very healthy tour/regional/school life, and they should promote it!
I NEED Mary Todd Lincoln in character. 🫖
I also saw Good Night and Good Luck recently and became an instant Georgia Heers fan. I was thinking while watching her that she'd be an incredible choice for the In Memoriam. Every Time We Say Goodbye would be perfect, especially since it's an instrumental in the play.
I'm sure all of this is already well decided, but (I'm procrastinating work and) it's a nice distraction to speculate haha
