Best of luck filming the majority of the film in San Francisco. I'm estatic that they filmed Glory in NY...no other place but NY should be the place to film it.
Regarding the trailer in theaters, I cannot wait...seeing anticipated movie trailers on the big screen is soo worth it. You can melt in the theater with all the other RENTheads :)
*does the happy dance* ONE SONG GLORY! ONE SONG GLORY! YAY!!!...now that the fangirl in me is satiated...on to more intelligent conversation.
Thanks and joy as always for updating. The year was worrying me. Glad to know it won't be a real problem...besides, the 80s were fun! Roger and Mark could go see "Adventures in Babysitting" or "Far From Home" (you make one scary pyschopath)! I'd would find that so many different kinds of funny. =8->

hi anthony! i've been reading this thread for a while and greatly appreciate your updates :)
of course i have many questions, but i'll just limit it to one right now...
when you guys are shooting in San Francisco, will us normal people even be able to be around? or will it all be closed set interiors and stuff like that? just wondering if it would be worth it to make a trip up there :)
thanks for the update Anthony. i wish i could be there to see you and the others but sadly i live to far away. *sigh* but i'm glad that your makeing progress especially with What You Own and One Song Glory of course. hope you keep posting and updating.
Trailers...lesee...I'm assuming...end of July? Early August? It mainly depends on the film, but from what I've seen (Slow Saturday nights at the movie theater were spent with me watching the trailers in the lobby) normally 5-6 months before the release. Maybe a teaser trailer at the beginning of summer?
"During this performance, please feel free to let your cell phones and pagers ring willy-nilly. However, do remember that there are heavily-armed knights on stage and you might well be dragged up and impaled."
(Pre-curtain announcement at the new Broadway musical Monty Python's Spamalot)
Anthony, did you see them film Glory? I would've killed to be there for that.
Off topic, but I had a random urge to listen to Rent today. It's still one of my (if not my favorite) musicals, but it's sort of fallen off of my frequent-listenings list lately. I forgot how much I love it, even if the OBC themselves aren't too fond of the way the recording turned out.
Hm...well I remember seeing "Phantom" trailers in July, and that was released in December. Maybe in June, we'll see trailers for "Rent"? Who knows, I guess it all depends on shooting and post production and such. We'll see, boys...
This is my first time posting here and I had a question for Anthony. You said you would be filming some night shots in here in SF. Do you know what districts or how they plan to film in order to keep it from looking like SF?
Hooray for One Song Glory being filmed!! *cough* sorry....
Anyways, glad to hear that filming went so smoothly in NY. Hopefully it will all go just as well in San Francisco. I can't wait to start seeing promo stuff for the movie. Anyways, thanks as always for the update and at least you'll be able to step outside for more then 5 minutes without freezing your ass off in SF. :-P

It is actually supposed to start raining some in SF next week. Hopefully it won't affect the filming too much. We've had such great weather lately - it sucks that it has to start raining again.
YAY FOR ONE SONG GLORY... my second favorite song in RENT. It was actually my first, until I hear "your eyes". Can you imagine being that song being sung to you by Adam Pascal?
I hope they are having a good time working hard. It's great that Anthony takes care of us so well... probably knowing how much we anticipate his view of filming.
They're going back... I hope they {or you} have a safe flight back!

This is WAY off-topic, but I'm watching you on TV right now, and I just have to ask: What WAS it like working with Elizabeth Shue??? HAHA!!! I love that movie!!
But seriously, thank you SOOOO MUCH for updating us on RENT! I absolutely cannot wait for it to be released!
i officially decided to stake out in Thompson Square Park and try to see the production....damn but it will be at night..because school kept me from seeing it during the past week...
i bet that is why my teacher was "sick" from school yesterday
PS she also lives on ave. b like me :) and a RENThead

Hi all! This is my first post, but I am, of course, a long time Renthead and New Yorker. I also had the opportunity to see the opening of the show in London with you, Adam, Wilson and Jesse. I had just graduated high school and decided what the hell? I had always wanted to visit Europe and the timing worked out. It was such a great experience, except for the er...interesting chick playing Maureen. Sorry, but she just scared me. She was like an anime character or something. Okay, with that introduction out of the way, I will get to the point...
I am so excited about the film, obviously. Although I think a lot of us were surprised that Chris Columbus was directing (I truly enjoy his work, but he has been more family-oriented director), I am immensely thrilled with his choice to use almost the entire OBC! That alone makes him a demi-God in my opinion.
Okay, on to my question. How is Rosario's singing voice? I don't expect a side-by-side comparison to Daphne or Marcie or anything, but any opinions you may have. I have never heard her sing before, so I am curious. Sorry if this has been addressed, but I have not seen it on the board.
Also, what is it like being back with the original cast and also having new blood?
Thanks so much for your up-dates! Have a wonderful time in San Francisco!
Thanks so much for the updates Anthony--and please let us know if the SF filming will be open, it's only two states away, and I'd LOVE more than anything to come!! "How is Rosario's singing voice?" Come on, didn't anyone see Josie And the Pussycats?? ^^!! ....Alright well now that I've made a total fool of myself I think I'll go....
"Kali, why is Roger on a cliff?"
"Because the cliff is love, Rachel."
"Oh."
Yeah the weather has been really great here until today when it got all cloudy and cold. Bad timing. Anyways, so since NY was mainly for filming exteriors, does this mean all the sets in SF and LA will be either indoors or in a studio? I hope not because then those of us who don't live NY couldn't come and watch but I was under the impression that all exteriors would be done soley in NYC.

Thxs for the updates Anthony! Everytime somebody mentions something about the show or movie, it just makes me wanna see it more. But I guess I have to wait. -Sigh-
I know it's hard to wait isn't it. Well you know patience is a virtue, so we'll have to wait.
