How do you guys know that this is really Anthony Rapp. All of the questions that you have asked regarding specifics of the film are either unanswered or have vague responses. for example "are you wearing the scarf" was answered by basically saying "we'll see." I think it would have been decided by now. Anyone could say that they are Anthony, and I don't see how this guy could varify that it is really him.
Some of us have met anthony rapp in person at the little shop stage door and such and talked to him about his posting on BWW. He would have looked at us as if we were crazy if it wasn't really him posting. as to the costuming questions, they haven't started filming yet, so he doesn't know what he's wearing. when he's actually in costume in from of the camera, i'm sure he'll give us some clues as to what he's wearing. until then, his guess is only slightly better than ours.
I realize you get this alot but thanks for the updates and stories. Really great to hear about them and that Peasant feast sounded like a really spectacular experience. It was very nice of you to take the time to share with us. Anyways, I'm so glad to hear that Halloween and What You Own are still in the film. What You Own is one of my favorite songs on the track. Damn, I was hoping that the MPAA rating system would just ignore the "****s" and give it a PG-13 but oh well. So I have a couple of questions. Do you suppose that you will ever get to record a track for LSoH? Being the idiot that I am, I missed the tour of the show when it was in LA by like a week. :-/ They've recorded different versions of the same tracks as different companies come and go so I was just wondering if they were going to do the same for LSoH. And I've been hearing some stuff on the thread about a book your writing. Maybe I missed a post since I'm fairly new here but is it like an autobiography or what? Thanks as always. -Mika
PS. I have to say when I saw pictures from Hedwig it took me about three weeks (and I had to ask 5 different people) to figure out that it was you behind all that makeup. My compliments to the makeup artists. Must have been really fun though.

Peasant feast sounds amazing! Thanks for telling us about it.

Sorry for bringing this up again but I have to agree with the majority on the fact that I love the spastic hands. It really does add to the character. I do that too, I've been known to accidentally smack people in the face while I talk.:-P The only thing I can figure is that since my best friend is deaf, I talk more with my hands then I do with my mouth (sign language) so when I talk to other people I use my hands too.

Hey Everybody-been reading for a while, but didn't have much to say. now I'm curious: Anthony-do you ever encounter people who don't "get" RENT? if so, how do you deal with them? I mean, usually people are very attached to their work, but in this case the story of Johnathan is so moving and obviously very close to everyone's heart that is involved in the productions that it almost seems above the normal petty comments people make about theatre. How do you deal with people who treat it as just another show, even one that they don't like? Sorry, if the question sounds a little negative but I am just curious, RENT just seems special and I am wondering how people involved try to communicate that to people who don't feel it. Thanks. -Broadway Style
"Fidelity is more than mere display, it's what a man expects from life. Fidelity, like mine to Desiree and Charlotte my devoted wife..."
Well I think the "spastic hands" can be a lot of things. I mean in that sense Dream you're used to using sign language to communicate, which makes sense, but I think it can also be expressive or it's used to emphasize a point. I think with acting if you use you're hands you can be more expressive and sometimes it drives those points in quite well sometimes. I think as long as when acting you don't do it half assed then it can actually work(actually that's more of a quote from a Shakespeare teacher I had).

Haha that sounds logical yeah. I figure the fact that I'm surrounded by sign language more then talking with the mouth plus the fact that I act just leads me to by very hand oriented. I've started signing to one of my friends who is hearing for about 10 minutes before she grabbed my hand and was like "what are you doing?" And again, I've hit so many people in the face. :-P I just really like it when people use their hands to communicate in acting because, to me, it shows that they are putting real emotion and energy behind it and getting totally wrapped up in the moment. Like you said, if its not half-assed it really works.
But back on subject, (sorry if I ramble, I'm quite sick and am a bit delusional :-P) going back to what broadway style said, what do you do if you run into hecklers? Like people who perhaps didnt really like something you were involved in but they choose to make a big public deal about it. Has that ever happened to you?

Is anybody documenting the making of RENT the movie? Like taking pictures, filming random / special moments, etc. for a documentary or something? Because I know a lot of people would love to see something like that! (myself included...I love behind-the-scenes stuff!)

I like Halloween too. Would it have made sense to have cut it in the first place?

Aww that post about Jonathan's dinner is wonderful, Anthony. It's so great that you all still share such a strong bond towards him and each other. Glad rehearsal is going well!
Hey Emcee--> the plaid pants HAVE to be in, right? *deja vu of the rent lotto/plad pants thread* hee. And as for the hair, they have great products out now that you can put in your hair before you flat iron it so you wont dry it out and burn it like crazy. It's awesome :)
Sure you will Beka. You know you'd love it anyway.

Well there's nothing that we can do about it. Yay it's snowing(sort of half snow half rain. Sorry it rarely snows where I live so when it does I get excited).

anthony, thank you so much for taking the time to do this. you're letting us experience the journey of the film with you and that's truly priceless.
your post about the peasant's feast gave me the chills. the tiny clips they showed of him on pbs' recent broadway special were so moving and chilling. i can't imagine what watching him sing three songs was like. i saw tick, tick boom put on by a local theater in nj but it was really a great production. it was musically directed by a friend of jonathan's who helped develope some of his work and who said that the lead really embodied his spirit so you can imagine how moving that was together with the material. also, jonothan's father happened to be there sitting a few rows in front of me which also added to the reality of it all. there's such emotion in the show that i felt like, through it, i got to know jonathan a little bit. he sounds like such a wonderful person and its great that his memory is being honored like this by such amazing people.
i was wondering what character in rent you think jonathan identified with most. i know they all embody a piece of him, but who is he most connecteed to?
also, do you read a lot and what are some of your favorite books?
thanks again!

Hahahaha they are just pants BEKA531. :-P. Like I said before, as long as the costumes look accurate to the settings and storyline then it doesnt really matter. Just out of curiosity, I read that Happy New Year (A and B) was being cut out. Does anyone know if thats true?

I wish I'd gotten to see tick, tick...boom it's one of my favorites. The first time I heard Why I started to cry. Glad to hear it was a great production.

hahaha I know I'm just teasing. They are some pretty kick ass pants. Knowing me I'd probably go see the movie even if it turns out they dressed everyone up like the backstreet boys or the Spice Girls. Mind, I would be quite shocked, but still..its RENT. Of course the next question is how to get to SEE the movie if its R rated....
