Sure, I go to sleep and this is what happens. Remind me not to do that again...
I don't really have any questions, but I have really enjoyed reading through your answers to everyone else's questions. I truly appreciate that you take the time to answer them, and I'm glad you're here for true debate and discourse. All sorts of people post on this board, and I love to hear the varied and knowledgeable opinions that come out of that.
with BARE pretty much confirmed as a no go, that leaves 1 of the large spaces open Matt, you're killing me! I'm slowly coming to terms with this, but that was harsh!
Why do we play with fire?
Why do we run our fingers through the flame?
Why do we leave our hands on the stove, although we know we're in for some pain?

With a stone clutched in his hand
He was only a boy
But he knew someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail

Anthony Welcome... Sorry for the delayed welcome but I just got home. I've been very busy at our community theatre here in Anderson, IN. We're doing Sweeney Todd. I'm 28 have done (community)theatre since I was 8. Been to NYC about 7 times. I've got my wife hooked on Broadway shows now and can't get her away from them. We're now expecting a baby in December and are VERY excited about the arrival of our child but it will also slow us down from being able to jump on a plan and go to NYC. But I'm sure we'll get our child hooked on Broadway just like we are. We wish you nothing but the best on your tour and upcoming movie.
Welcome Anthony! I look forward in reading your opinion and views on this board. I also look forward for maybe a little debate?
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
Well I guess that's what happens when you aren't one of the addicts and don't camp out on these boards and get busy working and rehearsing, you miss the fact that Anthony Rapp shows up. Welcome Anthony, huge fan of your work, loved Hedwig. Also, giant giant fan of your brother's plays. I discovered them earlier this year and have put him up there with Sam Shepard,Stephen Adly Guirgis and Mammet. Finer Nobler Gases and Stone Cold Dead Serious are two of my personal favorites. Anyways, welcome and don't let people scare you off. Break a leg in Little Shop, I hope I get to catch it at some point.
I got rid of my teeth at a young age because... I'm straight. Teeth are for gay people. That's why fairies come and get them
What attracts you to a role like Carlos in Gompers? Were you in it to support your brothers work? Or was there something about the story or character that made you take the role? Also, you've worked here in Pittsburgh twice now, what do you think of the place?
Good Lord! I go to bed at 2:30 AM like a normal person and look what happens! Argh. Welcome back, Anthony! Just out of curiosity, when is the Little Shop tour over? You probably answered that somewhere, but I've just woken up and can barely see the keyboard, let alone where the "previous page" link is.
As for me, I'm 19, lived in Staten Island all my life (no jokes, please) until now, as I'm dorming while attending NYU Tisch.

wow, I'm impressed that everyone's still here! I went to bed a while ago, and it seems like y'all stayed up for a long time. Is Anthony still here? Anyway, here's my info: Age: 20 Location: Live in NJ, currently at school in VA Hoping to move to NYC the second I get out of college. I'm studying to be a high school English teacher. There's photos of me with two Rent OBC members under my fan photos, so go check them out!
edit: aw, I think he left. Shubert, I believe I remember him saying December 12th, but that could be completely off.

Good God! This all kept me up until 4 a.m and I still missed something like THREE PAGES? *shakes head* my, my...
*gasp* Elphie, you mean he SLEEPS? Oh, wait. Objectification issues. Anthony, if you see this - I'm completely kidding. Long story, small joke.
Anyway - I'm 18, native New Yorker but originally from a pretty small town upstate. Right now I live in NYC, though. I go to Columbia... well, Barnard. Eventually I will get myself to be able to say I go to Columbia.
Oh, yes. Since this happens about once every... no, since it almost NEVER happens,(and since I read this entire thing) I'd like to say that I finally agree with bg2 about something: the state of Rent. It's really saddenning. Hopefully the movie will be able to help revive the show's energy.
Okay, end long post. Have a good show (or good shows?), Anthony!
Hey Anthony! It's really super cool of you to answer our questions on here. Thanks for taking time out of your day to correspond with us fans. I'm Heather and I'm 19 years old. I'm from Atlanta, Georgia but I am currently going to school in middle Georgia aka the middle of nowhere.
I was wondering about your experience in the movie Dazed and Confused. It has become sort of a cult classic. How does that feel to be apart of a cult classic?
And I hear that Little Shop is coming to Atlanta, you wouldn't still be touring with them at that point would you?
Hey Anthony! I'm just joing the thread so here goes..two questions 1)Did you attend theatre school, and what kind of acting lessons have you taken? Methods you've worked with etc... 2) I just recently got into the phenomena of Bare? Have you seen it and what's your take.
Oh and my name is Melissa, I am 19 years old, I live in Los Angeles, work at the Gap, I am an actress and I am moving to NYC in January and hopefully will be able to call my self a student of the Julliard school or at least Syracuse. Thanks! Take Care and good luck!
The theatre is one of the most expressive and useful instruments for the edification of a country; it is also the barometer which makes its greatness or its descent. A theatre which is sensitive and well oriented in all its branches from tragedy to vaudeville can in a few years change the sensibilty of the people; theatre which has been destroyed, in which cloven hooves take the place of wings, can put to sleep an entire nation. A people that does not aid and encourage its theatre is moribund if not dead; the theatre which does not gather to itself the best of society, of history, the drama of its people and the genuine color of its landscape and its spirit, with laughter or tears, does not deserve to call itself theatre, but rather a place for that horrible thing which is called killing time.- Federico Garcia Lorca
Welcome to the boards Anthony! I know I'm the umpteenth person to say it, but that's oaky. I haven't been participating at all because I have a show this weekend & this is the first time in nearly a week I've been able to sit down for more than ten minutes.

This is actually an introduction to everyone at the boards, since I haven't really posted all that much.
Okay, I have call. I won't be back at all today (unless a miracle should occur), but I just wanted to say hi to everyone!
it means a lot to us that you're posting here, as i think you can probably tell.
ummm everyone else seems to be introducing themselves, so I will too. hi anthony! i hope it's not too late to join this thread. i'm so excited about it! i guess i'll introduce myself first. i'm 16 and i live in nj. my name is alix but i am a girl (just to clarify) i'm fortunate enough to get to see a good number of broadway shows (although of course not as many as i'd like to) and a lot of local shows and papermill and stuff. among other things, i dance, i guess that's my main thing. i hope i'm not repeating a question but i was wondering if you always knew you wanted to be an actor or what inspired you to choose that path and if you had a backup plan of some sort in case it didn't work out. also, what's the origin of your user name? thanks so much!

NTG, you're an expert photographer! I LOVE that picture, your shaking hands didn't seem to get in the way at all! Thanks again! (and Emcee's photo-taking skills aren't too shabby either, as evidenced by the pic of me and Daphne).
Wow... I woke up about a half an hour ago after going to bed at about midnight (and I live on the east coast, what can I say, I don't get much sleep during the school week so I can build up a lovely sleep debt). And what do I wake up to? 6 pages of posts/conversation--I missed a lot while in dreamland...(but waking up at twelve pm for the first time in a looong time always feel good...)
Anyway, I guess I should introduce myself as everyone seems to have been doing as per request....Usually I don't divulge location stuffs but I think if I dance around it someone will understand...(though I think I said it in a post at another board...)
I'm Stacey, 16 years old (HS Junior), New Jersey native and , oh, yeah, I'm a gal if there's a question about that (still don't get how there are guys with my name). Hometown is...well, Anthony has shot a very famous film here and its very hard to get into the place the film was shot. (I felt like makin it a little puzzle...everyone should get it if you just think for a second...) I've lived my whole life in the same house with my mom, dad and little brother (by just under 2 years though). Okay, yeah, so, I'm into film+theatre, but I want to be a director. I just feel like saying this but also love philosophy. (Epistemology and Phenomenology especially.) For another clue on hometown-- I used to only want to go to this place where that film was shot, but now I know its not for me and I'd prefer a school in NYC.
Now that I've rambled, I look forward to more sane discussion, which it looks like happened during my sleeping hours...
(I will say one thing though, on topic if you go back a page or four, about Matt Caplan--I've only seen Rent once on stage, back this past Sept. and I didn't love his portrayal of Mark...to me he went for the laughs too much to what my mind had envisioned the character would have--as in if I had directed it I wouldn't have told him to go for it quite as overtly as he did, no offense intended in any way...I understand how one could say some/many/etc of the performances weren't as 'fresh' as they should have been, even if it's not my place to determine such having only seen this one cast.)
*a question flies into her head* I kinda have one question for Anthony, because Halloween is tomorrow, Are you and the cast of the tour doing anything special? Dressing up as anyone/thing? (Obviously besides in the show...*stupid "joke", I know*) *thinks about question...* Sorry, dumb question...feel free to ignore that bit o' post... I'll think of the better questions once I wake up more, that *should* help, shouldn't it?
*Gosh, it never fails to amaze me how I can't make a short post...*
