Anthony-
I was able to watch some of the filming last night and got there as you were filming the "What you Own" scene. I have to say that it was thrilling to see you doing the filming and hearing you sing along to the song as you were doing it. Later, I saw them playing it back on one of the monitors and it looked fantastic. Really amazing stuff.
Seeing all of you standing together in front of "The Life Cafe" was also a thrill, although a bit strange, given that the real one was a few blocks away! I know how much the show has meant to me because of the OBC and to see you all together again putting it on film was incredible. I couldn't be happier that it is happening, and of course that you have all been cast. It was almost surreal seeing it being filmed. What a wonderful experience for you. You all put so much of yourselves in every performance that I ever saw and I imagine that it will come through in the movie as well.
One thing that made me laugh is that I stopped by the hot dog shop there, as I know one of the owners, and we were talking, and he told me about all the props (old cars, couches, etc.) that had been set up. I hadn't even noticed! Looked like the same old East Village to me
but I did notice that the old police car is one from the "27th precinct". Isn't that the Law and Order precinct? I loved all the detail that they put into the setting, including the Christmas lights on the buildings, and the snow storm. The park looked beautiful with all the lighting.
Good luck with the rest of the filming! I can't wait to see the finished product.

Sorry you're cold, (still waiting for an address to send the homemade scarf to...oh, you know you want it =8->) but I'm sure it will get warmer. Hell, I'm in Florida and it's bloody cold down here too...karma? I think so.
I had a question for you: What kind of music do you listen to?
My friends and I had a lengthy dicussion in fourth and third period and each one of us thought something different. (Anything to put off midterm reviews due on Monday =8->) Yesh, it's a superfical question and yesh, it has nothing to do with the RENT movie (which we can't wait for...really, we can't wait), but telling us would make us happy...and i may even win the privelege of getting to keep the one copy we all have of David Searching (I love the movie...it's the Return of Mark, I swear) for the weekend. Help a fellow geek out.

Yes indeed, you are a lucky lucky girl Emcee. :-P If they are coming down to LA to actually film I might just have to go take a peek. RENT is sorely temping me out of my own "don't stalk movie sets" rule and the temptation might just win over me.
And as everyone else has said, thanks again for giving us an update Anthony.
It's so interesting to be able to hear about how filming is going and the progress of the movie. Good luck, and have a relaxing, WARM weekend. :-P

Emcee-because happy is what happens when all your dreams come true? Isn't it? Happy is what happens when your dreams come true! (Thank goodness)
Haha, couldn't resist adding that to the line.

Let's just forget about that part of the messege :). Maybe if we said most popular person besides Anthony that would be better. Yeah. Okay leaving it at that. Still trying to recover from this afternoon's engagements.

Yes, I agree Race..lets just leave it at that. :-P Anyways, I was just wondering if you'd be doing any exterior shots in LA or if it would all be inside and enclosed. Anyone know?

Yeah we'll just leave it at that. I thought I saw something somewhere about exteriors. I'd have to check.

Hey, Anthony! Thanks so much for all of your great updates! I'm now really excited about the movie after being really skeptical about it. I guess because it's actually happening now, wow.
Anyway, I was totally on 7th St. last night, and although I was definitely on the wrong avenue or something because I didn't see any film crew or cameras anywhere, that's still pretty darn cool that Rent is being filmed right now while I'm on break in New York. I think it's a magical thing, I feel like this is going to be something great. Wow.
I don't know how this all works, but are any pictures being released yet? Since shooting started and certain shots have already been completed, I was wondering if anyone has any pictures or any official ones will be sent out any time soon.
And wow, I totally saw Aisha in the role five years ago when I saw Rent for the first time. Pretty awesome.

Yeah will you guys be shooting promo pics soon or will that wait til after principal photgraphy/filming is over? Sometimes you see promo posters out in public as early as a year before the movie is set for release so I was just curious.

The friend I visted on set is the still photographer for the New York shoot. She takes pictures both as they film and in separate photo shoots. Those photos, in addition to the ones taken in CA, will be used for posters and other promotional info.
