"South Pacific." I don't think it's the best R&H, but it's my favorite. I grew up with it. I can't wait for the revival this season at LTC.

Best R&H? "King and I." Hands down.

I love Carousel. But after seeing the revival of "The King and I" in the 90s, that comes as a close 2nd.

The King and I. It's so epic and beautiful.
How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

Not only that, K&I always PLAYS.

If you have a lousy Julie Jordon in Carousel, it falls apart.

I've seen many awful productions of K&I, and it always plays. That book is fool-proof.

I am partial to Carousel as my personal favorite, but South Pacific is a close second.

Wow, question for those of you choosing "Sound of Music" as your favorite R&H.

Are you talking about the film, or the show? Because they're two different animals. The film is genius. The show is not.

The Sound of Music's film recording is my favorite because I grew up with it, but the King and I is my favorite score. It's perfect.

King and I or The sound of Music

Honorable mention to SoPac.

I may be the only person who hated Carousel. But, I have a feeling it was more of the quality of the production I saw. Billy was a shrimpy dancer/chorus boy.

THe KING & I is closest to my heart. I could watch "Small House of Uncle Thomas" once a day and still be thrilled by it.

I know them all so well , it's hard to choose. Sound of Music and South Pacific always bring me to tears.. But I love some of the songs in Carousel, especially "What's the use in wondering.." and "You'll Never Walk Alone".

re: What's Your Fave Rodgers and Hammerstein?

The revival of "The King and I" was my first Broadway show and I loved it. Last year I finally saw the movie, and it's such a nice piece. I'd had to tie it with the sound of music.

The Sound of Music movie. Maybe it's becaue I had grown up on the movie way before I saw the play, but I really hate the play. The changes they made for the movie were just so smart. Maria and the Mother Abbess singing "My Favorite Things"? What?!

I also love Cinderella. The book is a little cheesy, but I think it has such a timeless score. There isn't one song I don't like from it.
