As for Mandy Gonzalez, obviously she's one of my favorite belter babes but as I've said before, long ago when the ink was hardly dry on Edna's original contract, she's a bit green, (no pun intended), for such a big role. As I remember it, Elphaba carries that show. I'd love to see Gonzalez in a few stand-out supporting roles first. Again, who cares what we think?

I think Sutton would be great, except for the fact that she is not currently in need of a job. Maybe after Little Women closes...

I have predictions for future Elphabas...first, I think that in time Sherie, Eden and Soshana will all play her at some point in time...that being said I'd love to see Stephanie Block do it...and from what I've heard that will probably work out 
Idina: Somehow I got myself to the stage, came out at the end of the show, and I had some kind of closure.

Posted: 11/4/04 at 3:12amWhy, when there was this EXACT thread started last week, is there already another one? Am I the only one getting sick every other thread being about Wicked? In response to some people's choices, OBVIOUSLY Shoshana and Eden can do the role - otherwise they wouldn't have understudied the role, so that goes without saying. I think Sutton Foster would be completely miscast in the role - I would love to see Mandy Gonzalez. Anyone lucky enough to catch her in Dance of the Vamps will probably agree with me that she is by far, one of the most overlooked actresses - why doesn't this girl get more work!? After all, she WAS the original Elphaba on the west cost before Idina was ever mentioned for the part. Yes, I know it's hard to accept to most of you crazy Idina worshippers, but yes, there was an Elphaba before Idina. Don't let your hearts stop.

Posted: 11/4/04 at 9:13amMunkastrap, why all the anger? And forgive me but I am quite sure that you are way off about Gonzalez being the "original Elphaba". Again, no matter what any of us say and how MANY times it's said, it will not be swaying the decisions of the people who make them. Like I've said in the past, many times, if that were the case, the only people to ever do musical theater again would be Cheno, Foster, Espinosa, Von Essen and John Hill. Bare's not even getting a run, so, so much for "popularity contests" on this board. Doesn't matter a bit what we want and who we think is the best person for any role.
