Bring your "Alice Hates Fags" signs a la Fred Phelps to Shubert Alley Thursday night at 10. Homophobia will not be tolerated in the theater community. Spread the word. Queers unite against Crazy.
Isn't Next to Normal dark on Wednesdays? That will do good going to a dark theater.

If Ripley was really showing hate (and I don't think she was.. but I'll bite), what will protesting Hate with Hate do? It will do nothing but cause more hate.
It would be interesting for someone to confront her in reality about it..
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Dude.. What is this going to prove? That you can make signs? I am against the use of the word.. but as I said.. if she was showing hate (and I don't think she was) but IF she was.. what on earth is showing her hate back going to do? It's only going to prove her point about this community.
She said Jesus was the faggot son of Miss Piggy and grabbed her crotch while reading bible verses to a crowd of underprivelaged retarded preschoolers. It was quite a scene.
She'd still be there, though. I don't really have an opinion on the protest, but demonstrations are never contingent on the entity being demonstrated standing before you as you do it.
That vacation from the role of Diana cannot come soon enough. But really, this woman has a huge gay following (SIDE SHOW, anyone?) Does anyone think she's really homophobic?
"I'm a comedian, but in my spare time, things bother me." Garry Shandling
I think many straight folks are a titch homophobic internally. It doesn't mean it's a virulent homophobia, but nothing really surprises me. I'm often surprised by the limits of heterosexual tolerance, even on this board.
No, I really don't think she's homophobic, nor do I think a gay guy saying the c word is automatically misogynistic. However, if you use a pejorative word for a group and get called out on it and kind of willfully keep your ignorant head up, there IS some sort of problem there. It's very Palinesque.
