According to recent news reports, Nicole Scherzinger is in early talks for a residency in Las Vegas
. While the specific venue is not yet confirmed, some sources suggest discussions are taking place with Caesars Palace.
These reports indicate that Scherzinger, fresh off a Tony win for her role in "Sunset Boulevard," is considering a Las Vegas residency as the next step in her career. She is reportedly inspired by other artists who have had successful residencies in Las Vegas, such as Celine Dion.
Why not?- you don't have to tour from place to place--- and if you are popular enough to sustain a prolonged residency-- a great way to make a boatload of money. the question I would ask though is--is she popular enough to appeal to the Vegas crowd?

Doesn't she need an actual catalogue of songs for that? No offense but her most memorable songs are from The Pussycat dolls, is she even allowed to sing them?
“Recent news reports” and it’s the Daily Mail.
Is she just gonna sing songs from Sunset? Girl has virtually no songs of her own that anybody cares about...

It will probably be similar to her upcoming Carnegie Hall show. It will be interesting to see a set list. I'm sure she'll sing"Memory ", in addition to Sunset stuff.
She is really speed running burning through her goodwill thinking anybody cares about her outside of Sunset. Like... before this her ass was a judge on Masked Singer. Barely a step up from competing on Masked Singer...
She won the Tony. Make peace with that.
Every performer doing solo shows has to start somewhere.

I don't see performing a series of concerts as "speed running burning through her goodwill." It seems like a normal thing for a singer to do. She'll probably do some more talent shows because that's easy money.

She's got her Tony now, honestly id be kind of surprised if she returned to theatre, unless she has to. Theatre always seemed like something she did because everything else hadn't worked out, and it gave her some legitimacy and (as it turned out) acclaim.
I expect things like this, and movies, will be her aim now. Possibly relaunching her solo career.

A Vegas Residency implies you have a repertoire to provide at said Residency which she does not...
Does she wanna tour? Put out an album? Sure... Vegas Residency? No...

Yeah sure -- because look how poorly that worked out for Lady Gaga when she did her Vegas residency in which one of the 2 different shows she did in rep was 90% old standards that she's never recorded.

Nice to see how the Audra lovers aren't bitter about her loss!

Didn’t Gaga do a whole Jazz show in Vegas, performing mostly covers of old school Jazz and piano standards …?

For someone who spent so much time stumping for “respecting” and showing “grace” to Megan Hilty, you’re quick to sh*t on another performer’s HYPOTHETICAL residency that hasn’t even been formally announced yet…

The stench of misogyny and nastiness in this thread... oof.
To be fair, it would to be that a Vegas residency would be a year or more. Nowadays, it's just a small series of concerts, like 6-7. I don't see demand for her landing in a Colosseum at Caesar's level place, but I can see her in a smaller theatre venues like the Encore Theatre at Wynn or even Voltaire at Venetian, which house Kylie an Christina's residencies. Why not strike while the irons hot? If it's not a sell-out, at least she'll know her demand outside the theatre district.

Two things:
1) SURELY you are not comparing Nicole's popularity with Lady Gaga's. Nicole is incredibly talented, but let's be very fair here; Gaga's level of celebrity is on a whole different level.
2) She did, in fact, record a very successful jazz album with Tony Bennett prior to her residency. Whether they were her own songs or not, her fans had very much been exposed to her singing jazz standards.
That all being said, I don't see why Nicole couldn't have a successful abbreviated residency somewhere for a month or two. We're not talking about a Celine Dion type of situation here.

Nicole seems to absolutely love performing and she loves an audience. She has a one-in-a-million voice, like a cross between Judy Garland and Whitney Houston. You make it sound like she begrudgingly got up on stage because she had to, whereas I think she sees it as a dream come true and is loving every moment of it. She has spend a significant amount of time on the stage, too. She didn't just exactly roll on the boards for a few weeks, collect a Tony and leave. She said that she wasn't even able to audition for roles at previous points in her career (i.e. she wouldn't be seen).
She is also approaching her 50s, not in her 20s or even 30s. Even with her talent, even with a Tony win she isn't just going to be suddenly walking into Hollywood studios expecting they start filming her (you know she isn't LITERALLY Norma Desmond right?). Every project is still going to be a battle, and I'm sure she is about to have a mix of successes and failures like everyone does.
I wish Nicole well....I do think for a Las Vegas residency to work she would design a new show with a new repertoire. Why does she need to limit herself?

I never said she did just roll up.
Shes paid her dues for sure on Sunset, but with an eye to getting back to where she wanted to be after PCD. That being a big star. This has completely revived her career which has massively flagged in the years prior.
And yes she loves performing, but that comes in various forms. And 8 shows a week in a broadway/west end show is hard work. Sunset saw her get acclaim and legitimacy she has never had. And she knew after London this role was a good chance of getting her a Tony.
Good luck to her, but all those fan casting her in different roles may be disappointed.
Lol at the one in a million voice though.
Please everyone, don't tar all us Audra fans with the same brush! We've got one toxic person here spewing bile. None of the rest of us who love Audra's work are saying anything similer. It's a that person thing, not an Audra fan thing.

Are you this toxic in real life? Or does spewing all this venom here act as a purge, and you rise from your screen to greet the world as the lovable, supportive person your friends know you to be?
Why does everything have to get so toxic here so fast?
I took from Theaterfan’s statement only that it’s a little ridiculous that she’s already trying to distance herself from the material that made her famous. That’s a reasonable position, especially since she just won the Tony for that material.
No need to pile-on someone for a throwaway statement expressing opinion.

This is basically all it is. Nicole has... always had an ego and always wanted to be the star, maybe that's why she pulled off Norma so well. A Vegas Residency is something you expect from somebody bringing their lengthy career to Vegas. People cited Gaga's Residency of covers, but neglect to to remember that it was in conjunction with her standard show that was 2 nights a week. She did do a return engagement of Jazz and Piano, but also she's Lady Gaga.
She wanna do a few gigs in Vegas? I'm sure a venue would love to have her, but there is a difference between a few gigs and a Residency. You all know that.
As for Audra vs. Nicole for the Tony since some people think Im a bitter Audra stan? Literally didn't care. I would have preferred it go to Jasmine or Jennifer, but is neither here nor there.
