Just wanted to share that Rent and The Producers both got a couple of nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association.
Rent was nominated for Ensemble, Song (Seasons of Love -- I guess their eligibility requirements are different than the Academy's), and Soundtrack.
The Producers got nominated for Best Comedy (alongside The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Wedding Crashers, Mrs. Henderson Presents, & one other film I can't remember) and Soundtrack.
The awards are broadcast on January 9.
Biggest nominee was Brokeback Mountain, with 8, followed by Crash with 6. George Clooney got 4 -- for Supporting Actor in Syriana, Directing Good Night and Good Luck, co-writing Good Night, and Ensemble for Good Night. Terrence Howard got three, for Actor in Hustle & Flow, Supporting Actor in Crash, and Ensemble in Crash.
All in all, some cool nominations and interesting omissions...
Woohoo!! I'm glad the film is starting to get some recognition in the form of nominations.
Congrats Anthony! You must be tickled!!

Rent also got a nomination from the Washington Area Critics for Ensemble. It's a smallish award, certainly, but it's still nice.
The Golden Globes nominations are announced on Tuesday morning. Keep your fingers crossed...
Awards are fun, but in our case, they can help counteract the split critical response and help spread the word about our film, giving it more of a chance to hang around.
That's my dream. To get nominated for a Golden Globe so I can go and get loaded.

Congrats Anthony, and everyone else. It's nice to see your hard work recognized. Hopefully these are the first of many awards to come. I agree with Mandi about the Golden Globes. Good times.
"There was this one time an alarm went off - it was in the middle of '24.' That's just wrong. Everyone knows everyone was watching '24' at that time."
--NYU student quoted in the Washington Square News about students ignoring the frequent fire alarms in dorms
I am glad that both RENT and The Producers are getting some recognition. Anthony, let everyone in the cast know that we are proud of them and we are def. keeping our fingers crossed.
