Jack Black would be interesting.  It would have to be a completely different interpretation,  but i would go see him in it.

I second. I can only imagine how great that performance was! And, on a similar note, I fantasize over a RPDR production of Rocky Horror starring Sharon Needles as Frank n Futer.

I think Justin Timberlake would be a great Hedwig.

Jinx was pretty 3rd rate the night I saw him in Seattle - flat on all the ballads, didn't work the crowd much, certainly didn't play to the back of the house.

Give me Justin Vivian Bond instead.

The reason I picked Black is because of his unusual but distinctive singing voice. The music of Hedwig is rooted mostly in metal and grunge, but JCM had an indie voice like Lou Reed, and the actors who followed him had a more theatrical sound. Stephen Trask, on his tracks in the soundtrack, could be a Ben Folds wannabe.

With Black's ties to metal and grunge performance, he could bring a strong new vocal sound, potentially more authentic than some of the non-Mitchell, non-Trask performers. What he lacks, however, is a strong tie (either membership or affiliation) to the queer community, which seems to be something of a prerequisite for the role.

And while he's not a big name, I'd love to see what Jeremy Kushnier would do with the role. His voice, personality, and talent would mesh well.

I just saw Kushnier as Iago in OTHELLO- I know it's Iago's show no matter who plays Othello, but Kushnier still managed to walk away with it opposite one of the best stage actors I've ever seen, Teagle Bougere.

Sean Hayes. I want him back on stage.

"Mostly, I loved the size of these people's emotions. Nobody has emotions this size anymore. Outsized emotions. Operatic emotions. Kushemski and Vanda are like Tristan and Isolde, they're Paolo and Francesca. Nobody's in total thrall like this anymore. Nobody's overcome by passion like this, or goes through this kind of rage."
