^ Huh? Do you also feel that Broadway actors are stealing jobs from TV actors when they get jobs on a series? And as for k.d. lang, ANNIE GET YOUR GUN!
Sorry, I was making a joke/reference to another thread (which I can no longer find) where someone was yelling about k.d. lang taking away parts from Broadway actresses since she's going to be in AFTER MIDNIGHT.
Yup, and when that Hollywood hack Angela Lansbury started dabbling with Broadway in the late 50s, she was appallingly taking jobs away from real theater actresses (it really should have been that nice Arlene Francis in Hotel Paradiso, and what was wrong with Joan Diener for Anyone Can Whistle?) - and don't get me started on whom the hell Dorothy Collins and Alexis Smith thought they were - not to mention Yvonne De Carlo!

^ Stunt casting! Lansbury should give back her five Tonys. She's not a real theatre actress. She's an MGM gal!
Alexis Smith? Warners gal.
Yvonne? Universal gal. And let's not forget Mrs. Moses or Lily Munster.
Collins? A TV music star on one of those variety hit parade shows.

LOL, love that "GivesMeVoice"---Blair Underwood, hilarious! ;---)
Missy B did not lose the part to Underwood. Underwood is the reason this is being done and Missy is too old to play Maria now. She will make a fine Elsa.
More important: Who's playing Rolf?

Love it!
Christiane Noll Joins Cast of NBC's "Sound of Music"
Do we know yet who is playing the Captain? I really hope he can sing well.
I'm still hung up on the idea of a young Mother Abbess and a young Max, probably because I've only seen the movie. Max is funny as an aging opportunist. As a young opportunist, he may be despicable - he loses the excuse that this is his last chance to make it big.

Stephen Moyer is playing Captain Von Trapp.

Carrie does a nice job but appeared very uneasy and nervous while performing. She might do well. Casting is so important and can ruin a film. Remember beloved Lucille Ball cast in Mame? She ruined the songs with her terrible voice. I am a big fan of her comedy but she was no singer! Can Carrie act? Did she have any training? We shall see.

The only acting I know of are music videos, How I Met Your Mother, and Soul Surfer. She was good on HIMYM, but I thought she was bad in Soul Surfer. I don't know about acting training, but I do know she has been doing voice lessons to prepare.
Does Noll's role have anything to do?

Rolf: Matt Doyle??? Maybe another American Idol almumnist??
Since this is a staging of the original musical, Noll's character is featured in all the abbey scenes.

Hopefully, Underwood will not be as huge a liability as Nick Jonas was to the 25th Anniversary Les Mis concert. But she sure has her work cut out for her with McDonald and Benanti singing in the same program.
Although skeptical, I'm very excited for this. When will we have the entire cast? Love the idea of Matt Doyle as Rolf. Anyone have an idea who they're really considering or when we'll know the entire cast?
Whoever said that Laura tweeted something negative about Carrie playing the role is spreading a false rumor.
Laura re-tweeted a funny comment tweeted by comedian Billy Eichner, who said he wanted to kill himself because of the casting.
But to say she meant it bitchily is to miss the point of Eichner's joke and Benanti's re-tweet.
It's like those people on the Internet who make up rivalries between Patti and Bernadette.

I believe Benanti tweeted something about casting for the revival of My Fair Lady. Something about Ke$ha if my memory serves me at all.
Telsey's office was finishing up the final casting today.
Matt Doyle was in the running a few weeks ago, but not now.

To me, a retweet means you agree with what was being tweeted, and you're pretty much saying the same thing without you specifically getting blood on your hands.
I'm too lazy to go through her tweets, but I could've sworn she said something about the casting as well.
While I love Matt Doyle, I wouldn't think his look would be appropriate for Rolf. I know this isn't very creative thinking but I always expect Rolf to be aryan.

But you're not too lazy to spread false rumors.
Here is Benanti's tweet about Ke$ha in My Fair Lady, if anyone cares.
Also this is what she retweeted from Billy Eichner: "laurabenanti - RT @billyeichner: How should I kill myself? RT @THR Carrie Underwood to Play Maria von Trapp in NBC's 'Sound of Music'"
and I have to agree that it seems like she would only retweet a comment like that if she agreed in some way. I've always liked Laura Benanti, but sometimes she comes across a little too bitter.

Okay, I went back to her tweets, and you are correct. She did not tweet anything about Carrie Underwood. I must have mistaken her retweet for her tweeting. It was almost a year ago, so my memory was fuzzy (not an excuse, but still).
At any rate, she still retweeted it, and to me, a retweet is pretty much an endorsement. If I retweeted someone that said "Pasta is disgusting," I am in agreement with the tweeter, and I'm pretty much stating the same sentiments without physically tying the tweet myself. As a professional, Laura Benanti should not have done that. Yea, it's fine for kitchen table talk, but not on a public forum. It just comes off as bitter and unprofessional. Sure, it was her opinion, but I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have liked it if Carrie Underwood had retweeted someone claiming that Benanti's TV career is a flop and she should stick to Broadway.

I'm excited about Laura, Christian, and Bill Compton. I'm gonna watch the hell out of this.
And Audra!
