I can't believe that I watched her final Fashion Police after the Emmy Awards last week. This is such horrible news. Rest in Peace, Joan. You were one of a kind.
A fearless comedienne (who feared failure) and opened doors for female comics everywhere. Who probably would have a ton of sh$t to say about her own death in her act #RIPJoanRivers
She made me laugh and she made me groan but she was a trailblazer, for sure. Who knew we'd lose Robin Williams and Joan Rivers in a month's time? Rest in peace.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
~ Muhammad Ali
She was like my wise mother and my boisterous aunt, both long gone, rolled into one. I hate reality shows, but I made one exception--for Joan Rivers. I will miss her comedic genius very much. She was irreplaceable. May she rest in peace as a Woman of Valor. My condolences to her family.
She was a true legend,"New Yorker", and such an important advocate of Broadway. RIP!
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
She was the best! She had the courage to make us laugh during times of intensity when no one else dared make a joke and brought us through it with laughter- which is the best medicine.
There can be no greater tribute to Miss Rivers and her work than the ongoing debate between PalJoey and FindingNamo on another thread. (Namo, I realize "tribute" may not have been your intention, but there is a kind of tribute implied by taking an artist so seriously and discussing her work with such intelligence.)
I found the exchange informative and provocative, just as Miss Rivers herself could sometimes be.
