Slay it girl!
Meh, she's fine. Nothing earth-shattering.
I think she's pretty phenomenal.
Just beating Oak2 to the punch. I wish they'd recast her with Nathan Lane for the Broadway transfer.

DAMN! That was awesome! The more I see of her, the more I lover her. She has one hell of a voice.
Nice. Now let's see her do it multiple times a week, along with the remainder of the score. That's the true grit test of this show...
Well she just sold a crap load of tickets, that was rather stunning

she might as well walk with the Olivier
That was spectacular. I hope this transfers...we're long overdue for a proper DREAMGIRLS revival.
Going to the first preview - this has made me even more excited! She killed it!

I shall be there for the first preview and I am dying of excitement. I'm also seeing the debut of the alternate Effie on Wednesday.

Wonderful
She certainly has what it takes.
I can feel her Effie coming through
She sounds good but she seems to be borrowing a lot of ticks and phrasing from Jennifer Holliday. Hopefully in performance at the theatre she is able to make the role more her own. Will be curious to hear how her acting is...
I thought it was terrific for a TV performance in what I assume is a fairly small studio. I would expect a bigger performance onstage in a bigger house.
I thought it was spectacular. Of course it's not totally full blown acting-wise as it's a music performance, but you can see hints of the fire that I'm sure she'll unleash in the context of the actual show.
Like it's been said, let's see how good she sounds once she starts doing 8 shows a week.
She sang it as if it were a lullaby. Where was the anger? Where was the rage? It was very ...polite. Snooze. Yawn.
^ Exactly, Carlos! Riley's acting has always left me cold. Seems to be some disconnect of emotion in her singing. Fine voice, but there's not much there there for me.
It seemed like she was nervous about hitting the notes, and I was willing her to give the big bravura performance she was trying to...in other words, I forgot about Effie and was too conscious of Amber Riley's big moment. I guess that's to be expected in her first public performance, and maybe that number has always been like that anyway. B- from me.
One more time, with emotion.
