I concur about the sentiment for Amy. She gave a far more impactful and meaningful performance than Meryl, in my opinion.

Would have loved to see a Janelle Monae nom for Hidden Figures- I thought she was excellent in that part. Very happy for all the Moonlight love- I hope it doesn't get completely overlooked on Oscar night.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
Super happy for Negga as she's definitely deserved for her role in Loving. Bummed for Adams, though, who gave two excellent performances this year. Don't throw rocks, but I think Streep was the one who should have been left off the list this morning.
Nothing else was really that surprising. It's great to see some more diversity this year - let's hope for even more next year!!
I mean, Streep was fabulous as Florence, but I thought Adams' performance was certainly worthy of taking that spot. Doesn't really matter ultimately, though, since I'm still rooting for Emma Stone to take the grand prize.

The nominations went as expected though the Academy deviated a bit from the consensus (no Amy Adams or Hugh Grant). Michael Shannon & Ruth Negga were no doubt in-the-mix and their inclusions are nice to see.
I really liked the new format (announcement done with voiceovers as nominee's names appear on-screen all intertwined with past Oscar winners' remarks) & felt GMA did fantastic with coverage. (P.S. Did E! cover it?)
Very happy for Natalie's nomination, and I'm hoping she takes it. However, I still feel Jackie was overlooked in key categories - especially screenplay and Picture. It's my pick to win for Score, though, one of the only orchestral recordings I bought.

Portman was not nominated for Jackie.
I'm rather pleased, especially with Lucas Hedges's nomination for Manchester, as I thought he gave the best performance of the year.
Im not surprised by the Jackie snubs-critics went nuts but most audiences aren't feeling it and Portman's portrayal is dividing audiences. Streep didn't need a nod for Florence. Taraji or Adams deserved that slot. I would have even taken Portman's slot too to have given Taraji and Amy a slot.
Also, I'd love to have seen little Sonny Pawar from Lion nominated. He's incredible. Far better than other children nominated in the past.
I also think the Nocturnal Animals score is better than some of the others nominated.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
