I have been bringing cheesecakes back to my co-workers when I go to NYC. (The cheesecakes around here taste like mud, with the same grainy texture) What would you suggest I bring back next time??

Hands down
JUNIOR'S, Flatbush Avenue and De Kalb Ave in Brooklyn just over the Manhattan Bridge.
There is a subway stop right there. I believe the B M Q & R stop at De Kalb.
You won't regret it. Worth a trip. Not just to Brooklyn, but to NYC.
In a Best Cheesecake in NY competition in New York Magazine years ago in which Junior's placed first, they said something like "it sticks to the roof of your mouth for the perfect amount of time".

Please avoid the tourist trap that is Lindy's.

I always liked Celebrity Deli's.
It's expensive, but I'd suggest Cafe Lalo on W. 83rd Street.
If you're looking for something less expensive and more towards midtown, try the Carnegie Deli. They're my second-favorite.
Ben Ash deli has my favorite that I've tried so far.
I haven't had dessert in the city for a while, but I remember Carmine's having really good cheesecake.
Carnegie Deli gets a vote from me. Wonderful!
You can even order online!

Carnegie Deli, definitely!
WOSQ is right. Junior's all the way. All you have to do is look at it to know that every word is true...
Ya know, I've had Carnegie Deli's cheesecake and I didn't think it was all that. But maybe it was because I had just finished a huge meal.
Ellen's Stardust Diner.
Lindy's sucks big time - tourist trap. Ben Ash has great cheeseburgers and pickles.
The best bakery in NYC is Buttercup Bakeshop - 973 2nd Avenue.
810 Deli on 7th Street has *the best* Chocolate Mouse Cake.
Cheesecake... I just realized that I don't think I've ever had cheesecake in NYC. Will have to try the suggestions on this board.
i'm partial to veniero's on 11th.
JUNIOR'S..without a doubt !!!

Cafe Lalo's cheesecake is no more expensive than the Carengie's. I believe that they are both 6.50 per slice. If I'm incorrect, the difference in cost is minimal. The prices for entire cakes are also fairly comparable. Lalo tends more towards "trendy" cheesecake-oreo, cappuccino, snickers....stuff like that. They have the standard strawberry and plain as well. But the draw here is the variety.
I'm more of a traditional Jewish food kind of girl so I prefer the Carnegie.

I heard Roxy's in Time's Square was great. Was I lied to?
Is Roxy's the deli on the north part of Times Square?

I don't think it's a deli. Is it a restaurant? Not sure. It has a red logo, though. Ever helpful, me.
OH RIGHT! That red logo restaurant in Times Square! Ahh...
It might not be a deli. I vaguely remember walking by it. Is it two-storeys and narrow? On the north west side of Times Square? Not that I've eaten there so it's not like I could answer your question, but I'm making idle conversation here, dammit!
it has a deli-like part at the front but the rest is a restraunt. very old skool with dark hard wood floors and booths. one of those places that give huge portions if only to say "we're new york, and this is how we do it."

Yeah, it's narrow, and it's just across from TKTS. So, um, how are you? *nods off*
