I am loving the trend of not honoring movie stars that come here for a few months, and expect a bunch of awards for turning in such average performances. It happened last year with Denzel and George, and it happened this year with Adrien. I just thank God he has no chance of winning and gives the longest speech in the history of the Tonys. Celebrities invested in it because it seemed like a sure thing. Seeing Kim K and her plastics at the show the day before the Met was hilarious. The last time she had anything to with Broadway was watching The Cher Show while her sociopathic husband ruined the experience for everyone around him and was called out by the actors on stage. Hilarious.
Beaches and Queen of Versailles were never going to get nominated for anything as someone wisely pointed out a few weeks ago. Shows that get absolutely panned rarely nominate the actors involved. Stephen Schwartz is sad today but I have full confidence he will be just fine!
Becky Shaw was such a phenomenal play and Alden Ehrenreich was simply born to do it.
Ragtime. Eleven Tony nominations. Brilliant in every way that a show can be, and I hope it takes them all.
I think Two Strangers Carrying a Cake Across New York will win Best Musical with The Lost Boys close behind.
I never bought into the Sydney hype for a nomination. There's just not enough there in the roll for it to actually be nominated. He does what all Tuggers do, be hot and sing well.
100% agree. Especially when everyone else in that category gave a much better overall performance.
Congratulations to both Heather Gilbert and Linda Cho for their two nominations each!
Lastly, I wanted to give a shout out to Layton Williams who was my favorite part of Titanique. Just phenomenal and deeply funny.
A strange year full of many stunning performances! Congratulations to all.
