I agree and she was miscast as Ruth and lost in that production. Terrible performance.

“Pirates” and her one person show at Kings Theater, Brooklyn were the only two stage performances I have seen her do and I walked away not wanting to see anymore. Et tu, sinister teashop?
There have been countless variations on the Hannigan theme over the years, but none have compared to Dorothy Louden’s take in the original cast. She had that certain something; that combination of sexy, fun, and sinister that was uniquely her own.
A couple of actors I’d like to see give it a try . . . (this one is serious) Megan Hilty and (because I want to suggest her for everything even if entirely inappropriate for the role) Jackie Hoffman.
No one has done Dorothy's version of Hannigan since her version. She had that old lady grey wig, the hideous matronly outfits etc. Since Carol Burnett's movie version, we have got sexier, flapper-type, over-sexed Hannigans. I would love to go back to Loudon's vision. Kathy Bates was awful in the 1999 movie because they didn't allow Hannigan to be a drunk since it was a Disney movie. She was so boring in that.
2) The Matilda influence is.... more than definitely noticeable. Using puzzle pieces and the chalkboard with desks is bold lol."
Its so true about the Matilda influence...especially as Toronto had an extended tour stop of Matilda, and then a year later this Annie production came, and you could have sworn that the Matilda set was stuck and they had to perform Annie around it!
I'm counting on Sam Pinkleton to bring a good mix of downtown energy, Broadway chops, and - if there's stunt casting - it will be with big names who can actually sing AND act the parts. Current dream cast: Bridget Everett as Hannigan, Nicholas Christopher as Warbucks, Eva Noblezada as Grace, Aaron Jackson as Rooster, Cat Cohen as Lily.

I think Jackie Hoffman could be splendid. But of course is t a big enough name to be cast.

Which is a shame. Dorothy Loudon wasn't "a name" when the original "Annie" was cast and no one has done the role better. Jackie Hoffman would be brilliant in the part.

Would it be wrong to say I want Mason Alexander Park to play Miss Hannigan"
They're already in Much Ado this Fall.
If we're just going to name people it won't be, how about instead of touring her new record Madonna does this. She has experience basically running an orphanage.
