yes...but they all pre ordered the hard copy.
how is this any different then the people in the 'got an extra ticket' thread?
Yes, and they will get the hard copy. And the pirated iTunes copy. And since they are such great Sutton Foster fans, perhaps the next time they stage door, they can explain to her in person how they got to enjoy her recording in several different formats while only paying her for one of them.
This board thrives on harsh generalizations.
(I was being sarcastic....I realize that didn't come across well.)
Do you use separate computers? I'm not sure how to walk you through it if you use the same computer, but if you're using separate machines, you can just send her the zip folder of it. Apple did away with their limits on sharing purchased iTunes music.
Duh, emailing. Of course. Why didn't I think of that?

I think it's more that they don't want to wait until the hard copy release next month. This is why I don't understand having different dates for digital and hard copy. Just have them the same day and I imagine these sort of comments would die down.
That being said if you're that desperate to hear it now I suggest buying it. In line with what Jordan said this stuff will make smaller shows less likely to be recorded
...in several different formats while only paying her for one of them.
You left out Sirius XM. They played the new album in its entirety without interruption at 11pm last night. Luckily my XM receiver has a built in recording capabilities so it was easy as pie to own a copy for free.
Here's a question from someone who still buys CDs--
Since there's a nice discount for the show this week since Sutton Foster is on vacation I might go this week. Can anyone tell me if the album is on sale at the SS Theater. Thanks! (And by SS I meant Stephen Sondheim. That wasn't a pun.)

So, I missed out on this 5.9 magnitude earthquake that just hit New York because I was jamming out to some Sutton Foster. I regret nothing.
Still no Anything Goes on itunes UK..so looking forward to seeing it in 3 weeks time..hopefully..earhtquakes won't stop me...Continental's reliability and on time record might.
hyperbole_and_a_half, it's a logical argument.
* Case 1 with PM: Buy CD, the right people get their money for this purchase, but not the digital recording
* Case 2 without PM: Buy CD, the right people get their money for this purchase, but not the digital recording.
In both cases there is no digital sale. Assuming those who bought the CD wouldn't have also purchased the digital copy if they weren't PM'd, the outcome in terms of $$$$ is the same either way....this is why if they bought the CD I don't think it is 'killing' cast recording sales. I mean, you could almost think of it as they are importing the CD on iTunes that they don't own yet :P.
I see that buying both would obviously be the best way to provide financial support though...which I have done (e.g. ROAD SHOW) and would do more often if they only would make the download available in Australia more often...

Has anybody else noticed spots of "dead air" in the recording? Like the soloist was just too far away from the mic. Most notably the first chorus of I Get A Kick Out Of You, and towards the end of Easy to Love.
Love it! And I've never enjoyed "The Gypsy in Me" before. But Godley is fantastic and makes the song more interesting than I think it actually is. Foster is wonderful, as well. Greatly looking forward to seeing the show in November!
Any chance they will be shipping early? Like now. :)

Pre-ordered the CD! Thought about buying the digital version but I am way too much traditional. I need to have it on the original CD. Hehehehe.
PM please...
Yeah, that's my problem with the whole PM'ing of cast recordings. Anyone can say they bought it and ask for a PM. I don't believe half of it and it's just a way for people to get free cast recordings and hurt the industry. You want it SO bad right now? Go to iTunes and download it.

That's a huge, weak assumption to base a logical argument on, FYI, because we simply don't how your hypothetical, PM-less scenario would play out because it never existed.
Regardless--and even assuming your assumption was correct--it is no justification. Media formats are not fungible. Put another way: when you buy a hardcover book, you are not automatically entitled to download the ebook. When you buy a DVD version of a movie, you're not granted legal permission to pirate the Blu-Ray edition. There are different cost and contract considerations for each distinctly formatted version of every media product, and some people in this thread are getting the use of two versions of the material while only paying for one (assuming they are telling the truth about buying the hard copy in the first place). If we really need to, I'm sure we could get a representative from Sh-k-boom to visit the board and explain to us why stealing from niche labels is wrong.
Just bought it :) It's fabulous. MUCH prefer this to the 1987 recording.

What a great cast recording! I am really enjoying it thus far!
I agree with Jordan and hyperbole.
buy it if you want it. cast recordings are very expensive to make and we need to support the industry or we will lose them all together. it doesn't matter if you bought it once. don't short sh-k-boom/ghostlight, they're doing a great thing.
to be completely honest, if i were ghostlight, i would do away with physical copies all together. physical distribution is SO EXPENSIVE.
and to those saying that both should have been released at the same time, not so. and it will never be that way again. Since Kanye West and Jay-Z's latest album "Watch the Throne" prevented any leak by releasing itself digitally first, most new albums will start to follow this pattern. A leak would have KILLED the profit of this recording. To be honest, I can't believe they let Sirius XM play the recording in its entirety an hour before release. I would have let them tease song by song, but never the whole album.
I agree that the argument rests upon an assumption that, while I wouldn't say is 'weak', is often far-fetched. And that even if the assumption were true I agree that it is no MORAL justification. But you can see logically that the record company is not going to get money either way if the assumption were true. So I just don't think the situation RE: Piracy and loss of revenue is as simple as it seems. That is all I'm trying to claim..
If any record labels are listening it would be nice if you could make your music available digitally outside the US <_<, like NONESUCH <_<. Perhaps this issue is more complicated than I imagine. I doubt you'd be thinking "how can I stop people buying music" lol :P.
Okay, I am now officially obsessed with that arrangement of "Blow, Gabriel, Blow". Brilliant.
YOU ARE ALL BREAKING THE LAW!!!
i would love to hear it as well.....
